Guanajuato, Gto.,
February 1, 2020.- At the end of the
first month of 2020, 453 murders have been committed in Guanajuato, the highest
figure in the entity's recent history.
Official figures
indicate that in January 2019, 293 murders were committed, so in comparison, in
2020 there were 53% more of these crimes.
Also, January 2020 is
placed as the most violent month in the recent history of the entity, uprooting
to November 2019, when 346 murders were recorded.
In 2020 the crimes are
concentrated in Irapuato, Celaya, León, Salamanca and Celaya, which together
account for 59.6% of the total homicides in the entity.
Most of the violence is
generated by the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel and the Santa Rosa de Lima
Cartel.
Yesterday Friday,
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that due to the insecurity
situation, 5,000 soldiers of the National Guard will be sent to the entity.

DeleteI was recently in GTO and a young man was kidnapped and a business owner was assaulted due to extortion. People are disappearing too see FB. It’s so close to Michoacán which is a Level 4 Do Not Travel. But more die in GTO. There is a great deal of international investment in GTO. Wondering if that is a factor in downplaying danger?

DeleteCJNG must really be all hype if they care so much about the GTO plaza.. I remember back in 2010 when Chihuahua had 500 murders committed in a month when Chapo was trying to take the Juarez plaza, however the fact that Juarez is by DEA standards the most lucrative drug corridor I can understand why the bloodbath.. same goes for TJ and the Tamaulipas borders however to spend the resources in order to take over a bunch of huachicoleros and extorsión gangs seems to tell me what CJNG is all about ... they don’t even push this hard in Tijuana or anywhere else for that matter

Delete7:04 the governor of Guanajuato has been delivered his budget o fight crime in his state, he chose to spend in tavel, chayote and factures, all to steal it, and now wants more and more money from the federal government without accounting for the money from 2019...as happens with public health that state administrative costs have put out of business...governors steal by any means necessary, and now is not the time to let them do as they please on their way out
DeleteDon't understand why so much violence?? Maybe dominance over petroleum for the stolen trucks, cars, & other transportation. Or cause Guanjuato is 2 of the state's closer to Micohochan?? Instead of sitting down and trying to figure out how everyone can thrive on there own everyone decides to off each other??? What good comes from violence??? Maybe one day there will be no need for drugs?? Who knows but I do know que Lindo es Guanjuato con su cubilete...praying for Guanjuato and all of Mexico..

Its very odd how in just a few years a calm state with gente de bien turns worse then the Middle East, think about it the government lets these para military criminals to create violence to destabilize the economy for a reason.

I’m Mexican and i live in Guanajuato, the situation that we are living here we never have seen it before, most of the people that have been murdered were people that worked for a certel, a few weeks ago a baby were killed in Celaya, so the violence have taken inocent people, I haven’t heard about that the cartels attacks to foreign people or something like that but it’s better not take the risk and come now
ReplyDeleteThis is just sad but true! They have taken control of everything and have curfew for every business and traditions. 10 o'clock you have to be in your house and if they catch out you're dead.
ReplyDeleteI was only thinking of this part of the world last night - as a possible holiday destination in the autumn. I stayed in Irapuato for a few weeks nearly twenty years ago - such friendly people. Hope things calm down soon.
