The terrorist shooting recorded Wednesday night at the airport was an attempted execution of the Villa Ahumada mayor, Juan de Dios Valle Camacho, according to police reports.
Valle arrived at the airport when hitmen tried to execute him before leaving the lobby in front of police and soldiers.
The confrontation caused panic among the passengers, a female senior citizen died from a heart attack because of the fright.
During the shooting, a stray bullet injured an airport employee who was taken to the hospital in an emergency.
Last Monday the mayor's son, Uriel Valle Badillo was shot dead when he was waiting for an Uber outside the airport.
