Tecate, Baja Ca: 12, 756 Fentanyl Pills Confiscated at Checkpoint

The drug was secured at a security post on the Mexicali-Tijuana highway, during a search of a bus from Mexicali to Tijuana.


A total of 12,756 possible fentanyl pills were confiscated in the municipality of Tecate, Baja California, by elements of the Ministry of National Defense ( Sedena ), in support of civil authorities, within the framework of the 2018-2024 National Peace and Security Plan.

The events occurred on Friday, June 19, when military personnel established in a security post, located on the Mexicali - Tijuana highway, in the municipality of Tecate, carried out a search on a bus from Mexicali, bound for Tijuana, where it was detected that a passenger, upon noticing the military presence, showed nervousness, so an inspection was carried out, locating the following: 12,756 possible fentanyl pills, in three plastic bags.

The secured would be equivalent to $ 5,775,916.00 (five million seven hundred and seventy-five thousand nine hundred and sixteen pesos 00/100 MN), thus affecting the activities of criminal organizations.  

One person was arrested, who along with the secured bags of pills of suspected drug fentanyl was placed at the disposal of the corresponding authorities, pending the official weight and the corresponding chemical analysis.
