"El Marro" Asks Judge for Fair Treatment: "I didn't do anything to anybody"

    "I did not do anything to anyone, I want to be treated as a person," asks "El Marro" to judge

The control judge of Chamber 1 of the Federal Criminal Justice Center based in CEFERESO number 1, El Altiplano, located in Almoloya de Juárez, State of Mexico, linked to the process this Wednesday, August 12, the capo of “huachicolero” José Antonio Yépez Ortiz, alias “El Marro”, alleged leader of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel (CSRL), for the crime of organized crime, in its modality of theft of fuel.

The federal judge specialized in organized crime issued the precautionary measure of informal preventive detention and gave a period of two months - until next October 7 - to the Attorney General's Office (FGR) to carry out its complementary investigation and the defense attorneys of Yépez Ortiz provide evidence in his favor.

During the virtual hearing, which lasted approximately two hours, "El Marro" asked the judge to grant him fair and safe treatment, since being in a federal entity where he is incarcerated, he may be subject to violations of his human rights.

“Since I am not in a CERESO of my State, I ask that I am not individualized in the time that the process lasts, that I am not treated […] that I am not kept in an isolated area, I have nothing against anyone. I did not do anything to anyone,  I ask to be treated as a person, if I did what I did or I did not do it is something else, that I am not isolated, I am not undisciplined, if you can, Your Honor, that is what I wanted to express , stated "El Marro".

However, the federal judge explained to the defendant that he will be treated as a probable person responsible and that, for now, he is not guilty of the crimes he is charged with. However, in case you feel that your human rights have been violated, you must express it to your lawyer or to the Court itself, to take the appropriate measures and make recommendations to CEFERESO.

The capo "huachicolero" José Antonio Yépez Ortiz, alias "El Marro", alleged leader of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel (CSRL), was transferred during the early hours of Friday, August 7, to the Federal Center for Social Readaptation (Cefereso) number 1 , El Altiplano, located in Almoloya de Juárez, State of Mexico.

This was reported by Alfonso Durazo Montaño, head of the Federal Government's Secretariat for Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), through his Twitter social network account, in addition to indicating that “El Marro” reached the maximum security prison, from the Centro de Readaptación Social (CERESO) Puentecillas.

“There [in El Altiplano] he will be made available to the federal judge who requires him for organized crime and fuel theft. I express my appreciation for the joint work of the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic and the Secretariat of National Defense ”, added Durazo Montaño in another tweet.

On August 5, the Attorney General of the State of Guanajuato reported through its Twitter social network account that during the control hearing that was resumed that day, the head of an Orality Court, which is handling the criminal case 1P4220-62, described the arrest of alias "El Marro" as legal.

Along with “El Marro”, Raúl 'N', Silvestre ´N ', Saulo' N ', Guillermo' N 'and José Cruz' N 'are prosecuted, who are charged with the crime of kidnapping and attempted murder of the elements that carried out the operation in which they were detained, last Sunday, August 2.

Yépez Ortiz had been transferred to the state prison located in the capital of the entity, from the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Guanajuato Prosecutor's Office, where he remained after his arrest, for the integration of the investigation folders for various crimes of the common jurisdiction.
