Emilio Lozoya turns on his former mentor
Mr. Lozoya was extradited from
Spain last month to stand trial on corruption charges linked to Brazil's
construction giant Odebrecht.
Mr. Peña Nieto, who was in office
in 2012-18, has so far made no comments.
Last year, a witness testifying
at a US trial of Mexico's drug cartel kingpin Joaquín "El Chapo"
Guzmán said Mr. Peña Nieto had accepted a $100m bribe from the kingpin.
The ex-president also made no
comments on that allegation, but he has previously rejected allegations of
corruption.
What did Emilio Lozoya say?
Mr. Lozoya was a former top
official during Mr. Peña Nieto's 2012 campaign, and head of the state-owned oil
giant Pemex from 2012 to 2016.
Mr. Lozoya said, Mr. Peña Nieto
and former Finance Minister Luis Videgaray had ordered him to funnel more than
$4m in bribes from Odebrecht into the 2012 presidential election campaign.
In a second allegation, Mr.
Lozoya said that once in power Mr. Peña Nieto and Mr. Videgaray used a similar
amount to bribe lawmakers to ensure the passage of a crucial energy reform bill
through parliament.
Mr. Lozoya said he could bring in
four witnesses, as well as video and other documents to back up his
accusations.
Mr. Lozoya was one of the most
powerful figures in Mexico when he was the president's adviser.
Neither Mr. Peña Nieto nor Mr
Videgaray have commented on the specific allegations against them. They have
not been charged with anything.
However, Mexican Attorney General
Alejandro Gertz considered the testimony important enough to have launched an
investigation into the matter.
In the past, no former president
in Mexico has gone to jail despite successive governments being tainted by
widespread corruption, the BBC's Mexico correspondent Will Grant says.
Incumbent President Andrés Manuel
López Obrador had earlier said he was not in favor of bringing charges against
his predecessor - but would defer to any decision reached by the attorney
general.
Below from Ciro Gomez Leyva:
"In this video, an alleged Pemex official is seen handing cash to Rafael Caraveo, former technical secretary of the Senate. The video was released a few hours ago on an account in the name of Lozoya's brother. Could this be the evidence in Emilio Lozoya's file?"
Hahaha for what? It'll be a waste of time.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Salinas de Gortari and De La Madrid? They were both crooked/chueco AF
ReplyDeleteThey were also known CIA assets and party to several murder conspiracies including that of Colosio. Not to mention how difficult it is to prosecute 25-40 years old crimes. Maybe let's start with what has a chance to bear fruit.
DeleteSalinas de gotari plays a big roll in the Cocaine trade he lends 10 million gets back almost twice as much in less than a month
DeleteCan you translate the videos audio
ReplyDeleteLearn Spanish foo
DeleteThe 1st 2+ min were spent counting bundles. The rest of the video was discussion, to clarify, how many bundles/deliveries to date have been made. Essentially, there was no incriminating evidence because no names or "code names" were made like... this is for the "boss", el ingeniero, licenciado, etc. However, the video was edited in multiple areas so there may have some stuff there.
DeleteLearn english...foo.
DeleteI am sure El double R has plenty of time to not only learn Spanish, but German, Chinese as there are many things to learn, while staying at home during the pandemic, also does Obrador still tell his people to party and hug.
DeleteAnd they call the cartel members the gangsters..
ReplyDeleteJust keep a running investigation going from here into perpetuity.
ReplyDelete8:06 "From Here to Eternity" is one wonderful movie, and it lasts only about two hours.
Delete--Besides AMLO needs these cases packed, bagged and encobijados before 2021, to get re-elected presidente for life, mainly to kill the opposition with envy and fry them in their own poison
What does the classical movie have to do with these idiots? Did you see it and saw what it was about? Nothing to do with those clowns.
DeleteThe ex pemex guy better watch out. They extradited him so he can be suicided ala Clinton-style.
ReplyDeleteWow Mexican politicians are Rich. I live in the RGV, our politicians steal or in the drug business, but really mexico politicians rimpressive
ReplyDeleteAMLO may not turn Mexico around but you can't say he isn't trying... unless you're uninformed and make ignorant comments about AMLO on BB.🤭🤭🤭
ReplyDeleteI love AMLO's strategy for prosecution... he says, "let the people decide what they want to do with Peña Nieto..." while keeping his hands clean by pretty much saying "let by gones be by gones.." he knows damn well mexicans want to hang EPN at the stake. Couldn't be anymore of a true democracy than that. Let the populace decide what they want to do with their corrupt officials if found guilty...
ReplyDeleteBecause he needs to protect his political party and he knows most, if not all parties are dirty. Of anything he's testing the waters to see what the fallback is going to be. Plus if things get thick for him, he can just switch and focus the attention on EPN
DeleteMaybe, I honestly believe he's sincere in his pursuit to "fix" mexico. I think he is more concerned with going down in history as Mexico's best modern day president than a crooked one like the rest. There have been a handful of infultrators in his political party but he's always advised to judge them for their crimes. He won't stand behind them. It's great to watch.
Delete11:42 the Chief Executive of the Mexican Executive Power is not a lawmaker or has judiciary powers to prosecute any crimes, he can only nominate and support his designated secretary members of his gabinetes.
DeleteAMLO does not want to appear to be involved in revenges beneath his presidential stature, but he will not grant impunity, impunity or presidential pardons to anybody, even his adult children or his wife.
Oh shit they getting started for real
ReplyDeleteThis is where the billions in drug revenues goes: to the officials! The kingpins are left with a few millions, but the billions go to those sitting behind a desk: government officials, state owned companies, generals, police commanders etc.
ReplyDeleteThe cartel members themselves are the fools, the foot soldiers, the cannon fodder dying by the thousands. The drug business and the WoD are very very profitable for those collecting the bribes (and the bankers handling them of course), but everybody else loses.
3:48 hard to track the kickback money, among all those comunist bastard wannabes, but Salinas invested about 10 billion DOLLARS (USD) in Dow Jones to become one of its presidents, then again, no mexican bankster, crook, businessman or politician has been fined billions of dollars for money laundering as
DeleteUS and British banks have...
they are trying to come down on mexican elite. personally i think these people going after him are hypocris. they knew what they was geting when they voted for him in knowing his party and his affiliations. everybody knew all presidents take kick downs in mexico its illegal in usa its called lobying. pharmacuetical, military industrial complex, the oil fracking comnpany does it all the time they finance thier campains and in return president like trump yesterday signed final approval to allow oil and gas drilling in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge i wonder who will that benefit. there realy going after epn i think they dont like the fact that hes partying it up with supermodels. if anything they should go after felipe calderon who started the whole narco war. mexico si the way it is because felipe calderon. epn recieved the country shattered. with usa dea putting pressure on him to take down cartel bosses. he turned in chapo, z42 la tuta. killed chayo, kike, killed lazcano. stood up to trump and his wall. mexico presidents needs to have some type of immunity. ok he took a bribe from el chapo bribes from pemex but to anyone whos been affected by cartels and drug war those were big hits and the recapture of chapo should mean something.
ReplyDeleteMe encanta este hombre, que bello 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
ReplyDeleteeza es la razon por la cual cualkier puto perro quiere ser politico
ReplyDeleteChivis...can you please look into the YouTube channel “El Mexa” who video topics are very similar to borderland beat but in video form, with daily updates. Today they posted a video saying YouTube is no longer letting them upload based on the content of its video (they don’t use gore, or glorify violence) . Can you look into it’s claims and if true why YouTube did that?
ReplyDeleteThat is sad. The page was popular. a good one. I really don't understand it. YT ran us off as well, we just gave up.
DeleteIt is true YT is picking people at will and taking down videos, even seemingly harmless ones. Yet others are allowed to post the same thing.
Twitter allows just about everything
So it’s true...I didn’t know YouTube practice such censorship..smh what a shame...there such a great YT channel for daily updates...I didn’t know BB had a YT previously...thanks for the reply
