Aguililla: National Guard clashes with CJNG hitmen in Michoacán; 2 die and seized narco-monster vehicle

National Guard convoy was attacked by a group of hitmen identified as working under the command of Miguel Fernández El M2, a CJNG lieutenant.

A confrontation registered this afternoon in the municipality of Aguililla, Michoacán, between elements of the National Guard and a CJNG cell has resulted in  at least two sicarios killed, although they do not rule out that there are more deaths.

The incident took place in the town of Naranjo de Chila, in that municipality of Tierra Caliente, elements of federal forces carried out an operation. At the site, the GN convoy was attacked by a group of hitmen identified under the command of Miguel Fernández El M2, a CJNG lieutenant, who had previously been arrested.

Security sources in that region reported that so far, a male and one female from that criminal group have been killed, although they have not ruled out more deaths.

After the confrontation, the federal forces seized  a heavy vehicle with artisanal armor, referred to as a ‘narco-monster’,  in which the criminals were mobilized and from where they were shot.

On August 31, LA SILLA ROTA announced that elements of the Mexican Army detained nine alleged members of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel in that municipality and secured an arsenal. The Secretariat of National Defense reported that the capture of the nine armed civilians in the Bonifacio Moreno town of El Aguaje.

Sedena indicated that during the surveillance operation in that area of Tierra Caliente , they first located three armed persons during their patrol. Upon noticing the presence of military personnel, they entered an abandoned building where there were six other armed people.

Of the total detainees, eight are men and one woman, who have secured eight long guns (one Barrett rifle and five AK-47s and two AR-15’s). In addition, 20 magazines for different weapons and 322 cartridges of various calibers. The detainees and what was seized were made available to the corresponding authorities.

When consulted, authorities in the region indicated that the detainees are identified as members of an armed group at the service of the CJNG. The subjects allegedly worked under the command of Miguel Ángel Fernández "El M2", head of the cartel in the municipality of Aguililla.

M2 and other cells of the criminal organization led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes "El Mencho", have been attributed with several different massacres in the area.

One of them was the attack on state police that left 13 of them dead, in addition to carrying out different ambushes against federal forces and the armed forces. They also dispute the territory with their antagonists from the Carteles Unidos, that lead Los Viagras.

Likewise, this armed group seeks to seize different communities and municipalities in Tierra Caliente, where they have carried out attacks against the civilian population.
