It was a violent night this Sunday in Apaseo el Alto, Guanajuato, after four young men were shot by an armed commando in the downtown area of the city. Shortly before 9:00 p.m., 911 was informed about an intense shooting on Ignacio López Rayón Street, two blocks away from the main square.
Municipal policemen arrived at the scene and found four young people with gunshot wounds. They requested the support of paramedics from the Apaseo el Alto Medical Emergency System (SUMAA), who, upon reviewing the victims, confirmed that they had died. The area was cordoned by the Mexican Army and federal agents to carry out the corresponding procedures.
Eye-witnesses said that those responsible for the attack arrived in a van, from which three men wearing ski-marks got out and opened fire at the young men. The victims were standing on the street talking to each other.

The victims' identities unknown by press time. Authorities said that their bodies were sent to the local morgue for their legal autopsy and full identification. They said that they appeared to be between 20 and 30 years old.
This latest incident is the latest one in Guanajuato, Mexico’s most violent state this year. It is the battleground of a bloody turf war between the local Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel (CSRL) and the rival Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). Last weekend, 11 people were killed inside a bar in Jaral del Progreso, as reported by Borderland Beat.
