"Pueblo Mágico" Tecate, Baja Ca: Another Arsenal Busted w 2 Arrests

The National Guard detained two people and secured weapons in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico.

The violence in this municipality has not stopped. So far in 2021, 60 people have been murdered in the  "Pueblo Magico" of Tecate, BC. 

Tecate, Baja California is east of Tijuana and also an important POE at the Mexico / US Border. 

During the actions to prevent and combat organized crime carried out by the National Guard (GN), in Tecate, Baja California , they detained two people and secured weapons that they had in their possession inside several vehicles.

Two trucks, six long guns, four of them rifle type and two shotgun type, as well as 34 magazines and 876 useful cartridges of various calibers were seized during the operation carried out in the Baja California municipality.

It was on a local road where they located a person who had a long gun, who, upon seeing the federal agents, fled to where two trucks were, and got into one, with California, US plates. GN personnel approached to request that he come down to inspect the vehicle, however, they noticed the weapons.

Later they carried out a second inspection in the other unit, from where another person managed to escape. Meters later, he was intercepted and captured by the National Guard, who realized that this second truck did not have license plates.

The two apprehended men were read the Rights Card for People in Detention and were made available to the Attorney General's Office (FGR) in Tijuana to continue with the investigations and define responsibilities.

These tours and arrests take place in a context where crime in Tecate, Baja California, is not reduced despite the work carried out by the authorities, in addition to being a territory where the Sinaloa , Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG ) and Los Chapitos are fighting for the square; ie out and out war.

It should be remembered that on February 4, the councilor and president of the Security Commission of the Tecate Cabildo, Alfonso Zacarías Rodríguez , was assassinated in the parking lot of a business located in Callejón Libertad, on the corner of Calle Lázaro Cárdenas, in the center of the municipality; as reported here on BB.

Days later, local media indicated that his murder occurred due to a dispute between the CJNG and the criminal organization of the sons of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán , who seek to take over the territory to continue with drug trafficking.

Subsequently, on February 10, Alejandro Manuel Gómez Ruvalcaba, known as “El Aguacate” or “H3,” who served as the operational leader of the Sinaloa Cartel in Tecate , was arrested .

According to information from Zeta de Tijuana , the capture was carried out on Lázaro Cárdenas and Treceava streets, in the Luis Echeverría neighborhood, within the town of El Hongo .

So far in 2021, 60 people have been murdered in the "Pueblo Magical " , ie Magical Town of Tecate. In the same period, but last year, only eight intentional homicides were committed, representing a considerable increase.

The urban and mountainous areas of Tecate suffer the violence produced by struggles between organized crime groups. Meanwhile, the Paso del Águila area is ruled by the Sinaloa Cartel.

Intelligence reports warned about the separation of the "El Moreno" cell from the CJNG .
