Mexico's Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) froze the bank accounts of three people and two companies tied to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). Two of these individuals are linked to the assassination attempt against Omar Garcia Harfuch, the head of the Mexico City Police.
Authorities said that the three people were Carlos Andres Rivera Varela ('La Firma'), Francisco Javier Gudiño Haro, and Alejandro Chacon Miranda, all members of the CJNG.
La Firma has dual Colombian-Mexican citizenship and is the suspected plaza boss of the CJNG in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. He is accused along with Gudiño Haro and a man named Cesar Montero Pinzon ('El Tarjetas') of planning Garcia Harfuch's attempted murder.
Federal investigations highlight that La Firma was involved in the February 2018 kidnapping, torture, and murder of two federal agents in Nayarit.
Chacon Miranda is accused of being a travel coordinator for the CJNG. Investigators say he helps the CJNG by arranging trips for its members and allies.
"These individuals are based in Jalisco and work for Gonzalo Mendoza Gaytan ('El Sapo'), who was sanctioned by Mexican and US authorities in May 2019. He was the plaza boss for the CJNG in Puerto Vallarta", an official said.
The UIF said that the CJNG is also involved in the murder of Jalisco ex-governor Aristoteles Sandoval, perpetrated in December 2020.

Besides why does the police chief in Mexico City need Cholo to kill civilians in Guadalajara? Makes no sense since Harfuch is going after CJNG hard in CDMX anyways.
