Gulf Cartel Faction Boss 'Choco/Metro 90' Murdered Outside a Bar in Monterrey, Nuevo León

"Morogris" for Borderland Beat (formerly "MX")

Armando Daniel León García, alias "Comandante Choco", Metro 90", and/or M90". He also used alternate aliases, including: Jesús Carmona Benavidez y/o José Alberto Yáñez Sánchez.

At dawn on May 8, an armed attack took place in Bar Doroteo, located on the first floor of the Nuevo Sur Commercial Center in Monterrey, Nuevo León. Two people were killed. One of the victims was Armando Daniel León García, alias "Comandante Choco", "Metro 90", and/or "M-90", a high-ranking Gulf Cartel faction boss from Reynosa, Tamaulipas.

According to the first reports, the shooting began at around 2:00 a.m. in the establishment's parking lot, where the victims were killed. The Nuevo Leon State police arrived at the scene shortly after the shootout was reported and found the bodies in the parking lot.

Upon reaching the designated place, paramedics confirmed that M-90 no longer had vital signs. Meanwhile, his companion, preliminarily identified as Antonio Orta, died minutes later while being treated at a local hospital.

The report indicates that victims were shot on the chest, back, legs, and arms. Witnesses said that the sicarios were asking where the victims were and waited for them outside.

Elements of the State Investigations Agency (AEI) were able to obtain images of the hitmen from security cameras from the bar and the commercial plaza. Rumors on social media say that M-90 was killed on orders from Jose Perez, alias "El Licenciado" and/or "El Mofles", and Cesar Morfin Morfin, alias "El Primito", the head of the Gulf Cartel faction in La Frontera Chica, Tamaulipas.

A bar employee said that M-90 was a frequent bar attendee. In 2018, several pictures of M-90 circulated on social media where he was seen in a Reynosa bar and shopping center.

Background

M-90 was one of the top operators of Los Metros, the faction of the Gulf Cartel based in Reynosa and La Frontera Chica. Following the 2017 death of Reynosa plaza boss Juan Manuel Loisa Salinas, alias "Comandante Toro", "Metro 42", and/or "M42", several of Los Metros leaders fought to gain control of Reynosa.

One of the groups, where M90 was in, was led by Jesús García, alias "El Güero Jessi", who was a close collaborator of "Comandante Toro". However, in June 2017, El Guero Jessi was killed by Luis Alberto Blanco Flores, alias "El Pelochas", "Metro 28", and/or "M28", leader of another Metros group looking to fill the power vacuum.

Once “El Güero Jessi” died, Humberto Loiza Méndez Salinas, alias "El Betillo", took command of Los Metros. He was M-42's nephew.

However, in January 2018 he was killed along with several bodyguards in a massive shootout in Reynosa, so "El Pelochas" took his place. His reign was short-alive since he was arrested in August 2018 after being placed on the Tamaulipas's most-wanted list.

    1. Probably not. That guy is from Matamoros. This Choco is from Reynosa.

    2. Nope. That song was about another choco, a guy from Los Billys, a local independent cartel that used to operate in the monterrey metropolitan area

      No clue actually. Great question.

    3. Because then people will be asking why don't they get double digit names.

  4. It was also alleged that he was with a Michoacano named El Warache. I wonder if he was having a meeting with this El Warache and if he was an envoy from CJNG as they are in alliance. Hmm
Alot of ppl do get killed when called to a meeting, look at El 53, even cholo in the first CNP video says "me mataron a mi compa el 53 en una sita"

    1. Maybe Choco was meeting with a rep from CU and the decision was made to pull his card. Let's suppose Primito bought him out for 5million and Choco was "retired" hence why he was pictured in a club not to long ago and now he's receiving a visit from competition? That's a bad look. MATM is supposedly in a prison by Tepeque and has some kind of agreement with CU who in turn have an agreement with IAGS and his brothers who have an agreement with CDN. 3. @12:20 that’s real interesting.. I’m assuming u don’t know, el Huarache is indeed from Michoacan but he’s not CJNG. He’s a Noreste operator, a couple months back actually he was with el R5 ( Wicho de Los Reyes) a Carteles Unidos (Viagras/Templarios/FM/LNFM) operator that works along with Poncho la Quiringua and El Abuelo. They were interacting at some peleas de Gallo. If that’s true this guy was meeting him that’s maybe why he’s now dead seeing as CDG metros and CDN are enemies. Something is brewing... as soon as Z40 hit Michoacan prison I knew CU was gonna try to establish some type of business with the CDN. Zetas never fully left Michoacan, there’s Michoacanos that stayed working with them just low key. If u remember Hipólito Moras brothe was última letra. And when that truck full of dead near the costa that supposedly el Tenas people killed they spray painted Z on the truck.

    2. 1:20 - Primito is the plaza boss of the Frontera Chica. Reynosa is under Carlos Humerto Acuña de los Santos, alias "Comandante Mono", "M-36", and "Metro 36".

  6. This guy was the most powerful of the metros left. He allegedly sold the reynosa plaza for 5 million to el primito and let him be the boss. And thats how they repaid him. Bb la liebre el mini lics cousin got killed in Phoenix

    1. BB has been monitoring that rumor of El Liebre getting wacked, but no reputable source seems to point in that direction.

We are looking at a murder committed on Saturday night in Phoenix (91th Avenue and Camelback Road), which is the one some people are claiming it was him.

We continue to monitor and please let us know if you find more.

    5. El choco also sold the frontera chica plaza to some other metro forgot his name…

    6. 7:58 - He's still around. Not sure who he is under. But the Reynosa plaza boss is Metro 36 (El Mono).

Metro 85 (Chiricuas) is the cousin of Metro 1 (La Mimi). They are against Metro 32 (Comandante Aleman), another Reynosa "pesado" who works for El Primito.

    7. 4:52 - Miguel Aleman Salinas, AKA Comandante Alemán AKA M-32, from my understanding.

    8. Estas mal @MX
      M32 es el Comandante Salinas.

    9. 10:23 - Joaquín or Rafael Salinas Aparicio, correct? Thanks for fixing my mistake.

      Delete
    11. I always thought M-85 was out the game. Wasn't it said that M-32 son was leading the charge against CDN in Miguel Aleman

    1. They are mostly shared on social media by Tamaulipas citizen journalists. People within the cartel or in the know send it to them. Also security forces leak it to them.

Tamaulipas doesn’t have a viable media outlet that covers in depth cartel news unlike other states like Baja California, Sinaloa, or Chihuahua.

That’s a big reason why the Gulf Cartel is a puzzle.

  16. These guys are hella dumb. Even though they have incursions going on in multiple fronts (and losing territory from my understanding), they still can't stop killing each other. Que pendejos neta. If they would get there shit straight and unite, they would be truely strong. They would be up there with CJNG and CDS, if not stronger. But them idiots and thier egos doesn't let them see that. That in itself makes them uncualified to lead.

  17. El pelochas might of self appointed the metro 28 moniker and el betillo was never plaza boss he was jefe de operativas basically like security chief or a second in command to the plaza boss. Now i wonder how the rest of the so called commanders are going to react to el chocos death. He was powerful and popular withing the faction. If the metros faction wises up there shld be a revolt against el primito if not by now they have to realize that el primito will kill them and replace them with ppl totally loyal to him and the metros of the cdg will be basically jalisco cartel.

I think his full name is Jose Alfredo Perez. Mofles apparently supplies most of the cocaine for El Primito's faction. He's a top guy but few talk about him.
