Fort Bragg, North Carolina: US Army Master Sergeant Charged w Trafficking Cocaine
A senior noncommissioned officer assigned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, was arrested May 12 for allegedly trafficking more than two kilograms of cocaine after authorities executed a search warrant at a home he owned.
Law enforcement found the cocaine, two handguns, one assault rifle and nearly $ 100,000 in the home at 2647 Green Heron Street in Fayetteville.
The cocaine has a street value of between $ 75,000 and $ 84,000, said Sheriff's Office Sgt. Patrice Bogertey.

There, authorities arrested 40-year-old Master Sgt. Martin Acevedo III and his son, Javed Josue Acevedo-Ramos, 20, for trafficking a schedule II controlled substance. The raid was coordinated with the Department of Homeland Security.
“This case still belongs to the State of North Carolina. It is very likely that it will go federal and Homeland Security will adopt the case, ”Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Patrice Bogertey told Army Times.
Acevedo was on terminal leave at the time of his arrest, according to an Army official familiar with the soldier, who spoke on background to discuss personnel matters. Terminal leave is “the type of leave servicemembers accrue before they transition out of the military,” according to Military.com
Acevedo's military ties were not initially disclosed in press releases when the arrest was made. An individual familiar with Acevedo's situation provided a tip about the incident this week.
“We can confirm that Master Sergeant Martin Acevedo III is a soldier assigned to the 18th Field Artillery Brigade,” said Col. Joe Buccino, spokesman for the 18th Airborne Corps. "His command is aware of the situation."
Both Acevedo and his son were charged with trafficking controlled substances and booked into the Cumberland County Detention Center.
The two men were being held on a $ 500,000 secure bond at the detention center. They were later released after posting bond May 17, jail officials said by telephone.
The drug bust comes as local authorities and Army CID agents are also still working to solve a number of criminal cases involving Fort Bragg Troops, including a double homicide in a training area that happened in December.
A Special Forces soldier and an Army veteran were shot by an unknown assailant during the winter incident. In February, the FBI announced that it is assisting in the case.
One of the victims in the December shooting, Master Sgt. William Lavigne III, had previously faced drug-related charges that were later dismissed.
Davidson County, North Carolina, 55 Pounds of Meth Plus:
Deputies made two arrests this week, bringing in approximately $ 175,000 in cash, 55 lbs of meth, guns, drug paraphernalia and other illegal drugs like cocaine, the Davidson County Sheriff's Office said.
On Monday, May 17, deputies arrested Andrew Rodriguez with more than $ 40,000 in cash, two handguns, 2 Pounds of meth, and 113 grams of cocaine in his pickup truck. Rodriguez was caught because a K-9 sniffed the drugs after he was pulled over for a traffic violation, DCSO officials said.

On Friday, May 14, deputies made the second arrest after obtaining a warrant to search a home on the 800 block of East Park Ave. in Lexington.
Vincente James ( no photo ) was arrested and charged with multiple trafficking counts after law enforcement found 53 Pounds of meth, 8.5 ounces of cocaine and $ 128,000 cash at the house.
The drugs seized in both arrests have a street value exceeding $ 1.5 million dollars, Davidson County deputies said.
Rodriguez faces time in prison for multiple counts of drug trafficking and possession of drug paraphenelia. James faces similar charges and is in the Davidson County Jail under $ 2 million bond.
"Operation Groundhog Day" :

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced Wednesday that the South Carolina State Grand Jury issued indictments on 39 people for their alleged participation in a drug trafficking conspiracy, following a multi-jurisdictional investigation known as "Groundhog Day."
According to a news release, the drug trafficking involved heroin and methamphetamine, as well as other illegal narcotics.
“The State Grand Jury returned 7 indictments alleging multiple but connected charges and conspiracies relating to trafficking 28 grams or more of heroin and 400 grams or more of methamphetamine. The investigation revealed that this organization allegedly trafficked large quantities of heroin, methamphetamine, and other illegal narcotics into the Upstate area during the course of its operation, which allegedly began as early as March of 2018, ”according to the release.
The investigation has so far resulted in the seizure of over 54 pounds of methamphetamine, nearly five pounds of heroin, about a half a pound of fentanyl, as well as cocaine, marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms, and various prescription pills.
According to the release, firearms, cash and vehicles were also recovered by law enforcement during the investigation.
During a news conference Wednesday, Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright, joined by other law enforcement leaders from across the Upstate, shared their findings after a roughly two-year narcotics investigation.
Wright said some of the individuals charged were arrested in counties throughout the Upstate, including Spartanbug, Cherokee, Greenville, Laurens, Pickens and Anderson counties, South Carolina.
According to the sheriff, SLED was also involved in the operation and said a portion of the drugs were recovered through the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
Wright said the drug operation would not have been as successful as it was without the help of the surrounding law enforcement agencies, but said their fight in the war on drugs is far from over.

During a search of Medrano's home Friday morning, law enforcement allegedly seized 44 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, 16 pounds of cocaine, 1,221 blue counterfeit pills containing fentanyl, four rifles, two pistols, two vehicles, and $ 38,000 in cash, the release said. The drugs have an estimated street value of $ 1.1 million.
A Clinton-area home was the site of a search late last week by local authorities, who reportedly found 60 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and cocaine, along with other drugs and weapons, following what was deemed an “ongoing investigation” into complaints at the residence .

Delete@Mosluggo When you’re going through jump school the jump masters always tell you that legally you’re not supposed to carry anything over 70 pounds of equipment. The Womack jump pack consists of over 120 pounds of equipment. Way over the legal limit. Majority of paratroopers who this jump pack for static line jumps end breaking something in their bodies at one point or another because of the unpredictability of the wind. Only to end up at the Womack Army Medical Center. Hence why it’s called the Womack jump pack.
