The Sonora State Public Security Police (PESP) confirmed over the weekend that 3 suspected cartel gunmen were killed in a gunfight against them in Caborca, Sonora. The gunmen were killed when they attack the state police elements in La Almita rural community, about 30 km (18 mi) from downtown Caborca.
The police was assisted by the Mexican Army, which helped arrest seven suspects and secure weapons, tactical equipment, an unspecified amount of narcotics, and several vehicles (including an armored truck).
On social media, several people claimed that the gunmen were part of Gente Nueva, a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel in Sonora. Authorities have not confirmed or denied these claims.
Just two days earlier, it was reported that La Plaza, a faction of the local Caborca Cartel, reportedly burned 3 day laborers alive in Santa Inés agricultural field in the Guaymas-Empalme valley.
Videos were circulated on social media showing the moment when the victims were burned. However, there has been no official announcement on the incident, and if it was not possible to prove if the victims killed were in fact day laborers.
Much of the violence in Sonora is driven by conflicts between several factions of the Sinaloa Cartel and local drug groups like the Caborca Cartel. This turf is a strategic location for drug trafficking given its proximity to the US state of Arizona.
For several months, criminal groups have been competing for control of the Sonoran municipalities of Caborca, Sonoyta, Pitiquito and Altar. They also want control of the Santa Ana-Magdalena-Ímuris corridor in the north and the Guaymas-Empalme-Cajeme corridor in the south.
The desert lands of Ejido el Bajio, a rural community between Caborca and Puerto Peñasco, are being used by the mining company Penmont. Both rural residents and Penmont have said that drug cartels are in the area and are trying to take over the land.

So is la plaza the same group la barredora 24/7?
ReplyDeletefrom my understanding, they are different factions under Caborca Cartel.
DeleteCaborca is basically the Quintero family cartel, they ran it while he rotted for 30 years. Now it's all hiding, and hookers til they catch him again.
Delete3 dead gunmen...good riddance!
ReplyDeleteMore CJNG brought down, should have killed others that got arrested. The arrested will be freed within days, since they have an open bribe money account with the government.
ReplyDeleteSorry CJNG cheerleaders, now don't come switching sides.
Is it true that Rafael Caro Quintero, the murderer, runs the so called Caborca Cartel? If so, does he run it from the area, or is he hidden in another country calling the shots over the phone?
ReplyDeleteHiding in the caves, like Mencho.
DeleteI think his nephews run it
Deletesolo dios lo sabe jaja

DeleteHe sends birds with little notes tied to their legs lmao 😂 if you want to find him, go to Sonora and ask where he is at. Someone will give you an answr
DeleteHe’s never stoped calling the shots
DeleteI doubt hes in Mex city, its too dangerous there, too many govt officials that cant be trusted. Damaso fled there so he wouldnt be killed only to be promptly arrested.

ReplyDeleteHe's not in some cave. That's ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteAvvording to many sources he moves around a lot and likely only sticks with the most loyal and trusted of his close circle. I'm sure nearly everyone in Mexico has some idea of the general vast area he's likely to be.
DeleteRafael Caro Quintero should stop hiding and contact me.
ReplyDeleteI actually tend to agree with Venezuela as a guess. R1 can help the Maduro enterprise flood the US with cocaine. US authorities won't set so much a toenail in the country.
