Mexico's Attorney General's Office (FGR) extradited a member of La Familia Michoacana and of the US-based gang Mexican Posse to the US. Their names are Gilberto Gómez Jiménez and Vidal Rodríguez Álvarez, respectively. The FGR delivered them to designated US agents at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM).
Gómez Jiménez was wanted by the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas for several counts of drug trafficking. His role within the cartel was to coordinate drug shipments send from Mexico to the US, in particular to the state of Texas, by using commercial vehicles and buses. In addition, he was accused of sending the proceeds of these operations back to Mexico.
Rodríguez Álvarez, on the other hand, is wanted in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, for the reckless homicide of a 15-year-old girl. The incident occurred in 2008, when Rodriguez Alvarez threw a screwdriver at a car where two rival gang members were in with the 15-year-old girl. The victim was sent to the Children's Hospital and died from her wounds.
Rodriguez-Alvarez had been one of Milwaukee's Most Wanted and later had his own wanted poster published by the United States Marshals Service.
