The Cartel del Noreste (CDN, Northeast Cartel) burned a vehicle with the body of a person inside and left a message alongside asserting their control of the San Luis Potosí city plaza, in San Luis Potosí state above all other cartels.
In the early morning hours of June 13 2021, residents of the Rivas Guillén Norte neighborhood of San Luis Potosí city made a call to the emergency services phone line and reported the discovery of a burning vehicle with a human body inside being burned by the flames.
State Metropolitan Police responded to the call and traveled to the reported location in Rivas Guillén Norte, near the corner of Los Gómez street and Periférico Oriente street. Once they arrived and spotted the burned out vehicle, officers were able to confirm what residents had reported. They requested agents of the State Attorney General's Office come to the scene in order to document and collect evidence.
The agents that arrived were able to confirm that the charred remains inside the vehicle were from a human body. It has not been released if they were able to determine if the person was alive or deceased when they were burned inside the vehicle. The vehicle was determined to have been a white Ford Explorer SUV.
Alongside the burned out vehicle, a narcomanta written on a white fabric material was placed. Photos allegedly depicting this scene show the simple message “SLP Territory of CDN” in which Cartel del Noreste (CDN) asserts its dominance on the territory of San Luis Potosí (SLP) over rival cartels. News reports confirm that a narco-message from a criminal group did accompany the burned out vehicle and charred body.
Just three days earlier a similar occurrence happened in the Satélite neighborhood of San Luis Potosi. In that instance, the vehicle was not burned, however the body of a 39 year old man was found inside an abandoned vehicle on República de Argentina street along with a narco-message written on cardboard. The contents of this sign were not officially released or leaked (unlike the June 13th narcomanta) so if the same cartel is behind both incidents is unknown at this time.
