Officials of the State Public Security Police (PESP), in coordination with the Secretary of the Navy (Semar), arrested 6 people in Guaymas, Sonora. Investigators say they were part of Los Salazar, a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.
The arrest was carried out over the weekend after authorities spotted the suspects with firearms and driving through Graciano Sanchez, a rural community in Guaymas.
Upon inspection, security forces confirmed that they were carrying several firearms, including those of military-exclusive use. This is a violation of Mexico's Federal Law of Firearms and Explosives.
The detainees were identified as:
- Daniel Contreras Arias AKA "El Toro"
- Marcos Manuel Robes Campa AKA "El 13"
- Rafael Bravo Arias AKA "El Rafa"
- Rosario Alcantar Valenzuela AKA "El Traka" or "El Chayo"
- Juan Daniel Mendoza Ortega AKA "El Dani"
- Judas Javier Gocogachi Gutierrez AKA "El Curi"
It is worth mentioning that El 13 and El Traka are considered high-profile criminal figures in the Guaymas and Empalme, Sonora, areas. Both of them work under Francisco Alfredo Silvestre Ontiveros AKA "El Pipi" and Martin Alejandro Ramos Ramirez AKA "El Tito", two high-ranking members of Los Salazar.
