"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat
A day after being kidnapped in the middle of a shooting and subsequent burning of his vehicle in the Colinas de San Miguel subdivision, on Monday afternoon the body of an agent of the Municipal Police of Culiacán was located.
The officers name is Pablo Antonio, 30, who was attached to the Motorcycle Squadron of the Municipal Public Safety Directorate.
His body was found with his face beaten and a bullet wound to his head. It was inside the San Lorenzo canal, in the stretch that goes from the floodgates of the La Primavera dam to Campo El Díez. The corpse was half-naked and was already beginning to swell due to the water.
It was at 5 p.m. when neighbors of the area observed the body floating and gave notice to the authorities; a search collective also received the call and went to the site.
According to the data provided, Pablo Antonio was abducted last Sunday afternoon while driving through Colinas de San Miguel, behind La Lomita, in a white Chevrolet Spark compact car, which was set on fire by the gunmen.
The information specifies that when the neighbors saw the vehicle on fire, they telephoned the Firefighters staff, who came to put out the fire. However, the unit was reduced to ashes.
When carrying out the survey they discovered that inside there were .223 caliber rounds for AR-15 rifle (regulations for the police) in the back of the unit, which with fire detonated.
At that time, it was not known that the vehicle was Pablo Antonio's, much less that he had been kidnapped. It was hours after the discovery of the body that relatives went to the authorities and recognized the body of the police officer.
It was Plata o plomo, since he did not want to be with the criminals.
