Two Teens, Including US Citizen, Went Missing in Ciudad Juárez

"Morogris" for Borderland Beat

Mariah Lynne Rodríguez (left) vanished after she left her home, just like Vida Felixia Farrera Cardenas (right).

Mexican authorities activated a search protocol for a teenager born in El Paso, Texas who disappeared in Colonial del Sur neighborhood in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, over a week ago.

The State Prosecutor's Office released a report that said that Mariah Lynne Rodríguez, 15, was last seen on June 26, 2021, after she left her home. She was wearing blue jeans, a black shirt with the NASA logo, and black Converse shoes.

Another girl in Ciudad Juarez went missing days after Rodriguez. Vida Felixia Farrera Cárdenas, 13, left her home in Praderas de Oriente neighborhood on June 29 and was never seen again. The teenager wore a cherry colored T-shirt and camouflage pants.

Background

According to a neighborhood map republished by Borderland Beat, the neighborhood Rodriguez went missing in is controlled by a gang known as Los Mexicles. The neighborhood where Farrera Cardenas went missing is on the border with a turf controlled by Los Mexicles and Artistas Asesinos.

So far, there are about 4,000 reported missing in Chihuahua, making it one of the states with the highest kidnapping, homicides, and femicides rates in all of Mexico. Over 1,070 women have been murdered since Chihuahua governor Javier Corral Jurado joined office in 2016. Only 10 percent of them have been considered femicides.

As far as disappearances go, Chihuahua is ranked fourth in Mexico since the start of the drug war, just behind Tamaulipas, Jalisco, and the State of Mexico.

Ciudad Juarez has been on the international spotlight for violence against women for decades. Since the 1990s, the media began to fixate on the gruesome killing of women  mostly young and of modest means  who were found dead in growing numbers across the Chihuahuan desert.

The killings have continued to date and increased with the ongoing drug war.

  2. Fuck man, that 'she was wearing a black shirt with a NASA logo' detail somehow hurt more than all the gory details i've come to expect from those pieces of shit.

Those animals can never grasp the complexity of the world we're living in, and even less of what's beyond.
They know only stupidity and senseless violence, but when it happens to a soul that strives at more its fucking gut wrenching.

One can only hope that those worms meet a gory end to have some sort of justice.

    3. It's not a rumor it's a fact, that throughout the years women get kidnapped, the most outlandish acts are done, upon them once thier done they kill them as if they were animals. It's not only the Cartels that do this, but curupt cops too. There was a time FBI wanted to help, but the government said, no thank you we can handle the problem and presently it's still happening as this fresh article shows it.
Furthermore Jenifer Lopez came out in a movie, regarding ladies abducted there. Some Arab guy yes living there was part of kidnapping women.
