El Werko from CDN Tropa del Infierno Rumored to Have Been Arrested, Not Confirmed

The regional leader of a Tropa del Infierno group, an armed wing of the Northeast Cartel (Cártel del Noreste, CDN) named  Fernando de Jesús Rodríguez Adame, alias “El Werko” is rumored to have been arrested yesterday in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas however there is no confirmation from Tamaulipas authorities as of the writing of this story. 

Sites like Letra Roja, Infobae, and Noticias de Bariloche have written that, according to social media posts, El Werko has been arrested. Some social media accounts that report this include La Voz de Pueblo and Frontera Al Rojo Vivo.

The alleged arrest would have occurred yesterday, August 9, 2021, during a confrontation in the Francisco Villa neighborhood of Nuevo Laredo. It was reported that members of SEDENA were attacked on Centauro street. They then repelled the attack successfully and secured the arrest of 8 CDN hitmen, one of which was rumored to be El Werko. 

What can be confirmed is that early on the morning of August 10, 2021, a series of clashes occurred around the exits of Nuevo Laredo. The sound of these clashes were captured mainly as audio in the videos embedded below. 

Those who believe El Werko was captured report that these clashes occurred due to road blockades that CDN members had established, either trying to hinder law enforcement’s ability to transfer the detainee or simply as retribution for him having been captured.

Some screenshots have been shared online which allegedly show the social media account of the brother of El Werko who is lamenting the arrest of his brother. The account cannot be verified as belonging to Werko’s brother.

That being said, the account in question has released some photographs that allegedly depict El Werko at what look to be family functions.
