Matamoros, Tamaulipas : Former Matamoros Police Chief Will Face Trial For Aggravated Homicide

Hugo Gerardo C. B., former head of the Municipal Police of Matamoros, was linked to trial for the crime of aggravated homicide this Friday, October 15, by a Control Judge under criminal case 300/2021.

According to the data provided at the hearing, the crime was committed on May 31 of this year in the municipality of Matamoros. Therefore, the accused must remain under the precautionary measure of pretrial detention for the six months of time set by the judge for the supplementary investigation.

The arrest of Hugo Gerardo C. B., who served as Director of Municipal Public Security of Matamoros, was made on October 9 by elements of the Mexican Army and an arrest warrant was completed for the aforementioned facts.

During the hearing held this Friday, the agent of the Public Ministry accredited the possible participation of Hugo Gerardo C. B., in events in which a male person died, as a result of gunshot wounds.

The accusation narrative states that between 9:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on May 31, 2021, the victim arrived at his home in the aforementioned town aboard a vehicle, when he was surprised by the accused and diverse subject, who got him out of the car, pointed a handgun at his head and shot him at least 12 times.

According to current laws and regulations, the accused is presumed innocent until his responsibility is declared by a sentence issued by the judicial authority (article 13 of the National Code of Criminal Procedure).
