"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat
In a darkened room the song “Good Morning” by Diluvio is blaring away to muffle the sounds. Hitmen for Audias Flores Silva aka ‘El Jardinero’ are dismembering a captured operative from the Cartel de Sinaloa.
A right handed assassin is using a large fixed blade to hack away with brute force his opponents head. From his mouth a burning cigarette dangles. Abruptly the big knife is thrown away. And the sound of its heavy weight can be heard as it clangs to the floor.
Someone off camera then hands him a small knife to slice off what the big blade couldn’t remove. While he’s crouching on the floor concentrated on his affairs. A dancing sicario walks by moving to the rhythm of the music.
In the background several young individuals bound hand and feet are sitting on the floor with their backs against a wall.
When the time comes they to will also feel those cutting tools against their necks.

DeleteI was reading an article and if I recall correctly, the young sicario was saying something along the lines of; he was in a desperate situation to take care of 8 brothers and sisters youngest aged 2 (drugged out mother, abusive drunk father who fled) he had to get so fucked up to deal with the crimes he had to to commit against others and afterwards due to the shame he felt.

Thought he was applying to be a mall cop/security guard. 10 yrs ago before training camps had been so well known. B. The kid had no education as family couldn't afford or cared about school C. Gang filled neighborhood where crossing gang lines to walk to school had left him assaulted before.
I study narco camps so needless to say that was complete he'll, with death at every turn.
After camp, after 'they' gathered info on family, younger brothers and sisters, family name and address etc to retaliate against if he fled or killed himself.
I write this as I thought it interesting and just sad. You can form your own conclusions. If anyone is interested in article I can pull it out and pass on to BB.

DeleteI submitted one, not about the above kid I speak of. It's a fascinating and sad read called Life and Death of a Sicario posted in, I think Crisis Group. I read anything available on the recruitment or forced recruitment process, the training itself or lack thereof as well as anything on the actual life and emotions of sicarios. I'm more interested in the human stories, the societal and economic structures that lead to this hellish nightmare, the psychology of the individuals. Of course I have read many books on the after effects of the victims and Mexican society as a whole. I study what you could call modern day cultural ethnographies or ghetto anthropology. I need to just write some articles myself when I get around to it. Ok, long winded tyrade here

ReplyDeleteIt looks like they’ve all had their faces covered with duct tape. Within the group of condemned individuals there are 2 women. I see 5 detained individuals total. One of the females has her head hung against her raised knees. The rest are just there waiting and hearing what all is happening. The dancing sicario is pulling the victims head away and then side to side while the guy with the big fixed blade hacks away. This man has weak upper body strength. Which is why he can’t finish doing the job with the big blade. Once the big knife is thrown to the ground the hitman who was pulling on the victims head then proceeds to do his dance shuffle across the room. Yes the condemned are alive.
