Five People, Two Of Them Women, Found Executed In Tangamandapio, Michoacán

The following is a direct translation of an article published by newspaper La Voz de Michoacán on January 17, 2022.

Tangamandapio, Michoacan. The bodies of three men and two women, with evidence of torture and being bound, were found this Monday afternoon on the side of the San Angel-La Trasquila highway, at the city limits of Tarecuato, belonging to the municipality of Tangamandapio, where last November 1, 11 men, including 6 minors, were killed when they went to look for honeycombs to place in the Day of the Dead offerings.

Motorists reported to the local police that there were several people lying on the side of the road, near the bridge called "Paso del Molino", so the uniforms were mobilized.

Once at the site, the officers confirmed that it was a quintuple homicide, in which three men and two women had been shot to death, so they cordoned off the area and requested the intervention of the State Attorney General's Office.

Two of the men were between 25 and 30 years old, while the third is approximately 45 to 50 years old, while the two women were between 25 and 30 years old, the Attorney General's Office said.

The corresponding procedures were carried out by the agents and experts of the Unit of Forensic Services and Crime Scene, who at the end of the proceedings transferred the bodies as unknown to the Semefo of the region while waiting for the families to come to claim them.

Just last November 1, another massacre occurred in the same community of Tarecuato: 11 people, six of them minors, were riddled with bullets when they went to look for honeycombs for the Day of the Dead altars.

The Michoacan prosecutor, Adrian Lopez Solis, reported that the victims of that massacre are innocent people who were left at the mercy of criminal groups that dispute illicit activities between Michoacan and Jalisco.

Over the past few months, the San Angel-La Trasquila highway, where the five hides were abandoned on Monday, has been the scene of multiple murders related to the struggle between rival criminal groups.

On December 29, 2021, the bagged bodies of two men and a woman with their throats slit were found. On December 16, another shot and bagged body was found on the side of the road at the entrance to the river.

On December 15, on the same road, but at the entrance to Huerta La Loma, the shot bodies of two men were found bagged and tied with gray industrial tape.

On August 28, at the height of the El Molino Bridge, criminals abandoned the skinned and shot body of an unknown man, and also on August 18 at the entrance to the "Los 7 G" orchard located in the community of El Paso del Molino, a man was found executed.
