Director Of The Traffic Police And His Wife Are Murdered In Caborca, Sonora

The victims were identified as Carolina Espinoza and Officer Francisco, Bronco, Celaya Ibarra, 39 years old.

On the morning of Friday, February 11, the director of the Municipal Traffic Police of Caborca, Sonora, and his wife were executed inside their home with high-caliber weapons. The victims were identified as Carolina Espinoza and officer Francisco, Bronco, Celaya Ibarra, 39, who had been in charge of the Traffic Department for a few months. It was around 5:20 a.m. when an armed group damaged the plate of the access door, broke into the house located in the Pueblo Viejo neighborhood and murdered the couple, whose bodies were found by the authorities on the floor of the bedroom. 

"With deep sorrow we regret the sensitive death of our colleague and friend, the Municipal Traffic Chief Francisco Javier Celaya Ibarra. To his family and friends, with deep respect, we express our deepest condolences, total solidarity and support."

The Attorney General of the State of Sonora (FGE) reported that Expert Services personnel collected various evidence in the property, thus initiating the investigation to establish the facts and find those responsible. He affirmed that the corporations of the three levels of government that make up the State Security Table, elements of the Sedena, Navy, National Guard, Ministerial Agents, state and municipal police, maintain a search operation in the region to find those responsible. So far this year, at least five municipal police officers have been murdered in Sonora, four of them in the municipality of Guaymas.
