"HEARST" for Borderland Beat
A video of sports star Antonio "El Pollo" Briseño saying hello to the leader of the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generation (CJNG) is making its rounds on social media. However, El Pollo only said the greeting because he was paid to, along with many other greetings that he recorded to raise money for charity.
Antonio Briseño Vázquez plays center-back for the professional soccer/football team Club Deportivo Guadalajara S.A. de C.V., which is often just called Guadalajara or their nickname Chivas. The club is based out of Zapopan, which is the western section of the city of Guadalajara, in the state of Jalisco.
On the website Famosos.com, celebrities such as actors, comedians, musicians, models and sports players offer to film themselves reading out a requested, personalized greetings for a set price, similar to other websites like Cameo.com.
Many professional footballers have started supplementing their income by creating profiles and filming greetings for Famosos. Other footballers on the site include Marco Fabián, Tino Asprilla and Miguel Ponce.
At the bottom of his profile, it says Antonio Briseño donates his proceeds to Champions with a Cause. |
Antonio Briseño was not even on the Famosos platform for personal monetary gain. When Briseño announced that he would be creating a profile on the website just a few days ago, he said that all the money he makes from the greetings would be contributed to the Mexican charity Champions with a Cause.
Champions with a Cause works to “prevent violence through the promotion of values that guarantee a healthy life in children and young people with limited resources, with the aim of providing them with opportunities through a physical-recreational activity.”

A video, seen above, of one of Antonio Briseño’s video greetings that he filmed for Famosos was uploaded to social media on February 11, 2022. In the clip Antonio Briseño says “Hello, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, how are you? This is your friend Antonio 'El Pollo' Briseño speaking and I want to thank you” and then the video cuts off.
Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias “El Mencho” is the overall leader of the CJNG.
But what does this mean? Well, maybe not as much as it seems. Anonymous users can request the celebrities on the website say a greeting to any name they submit. Antonio Briseño was only charging 1,082 pesos for a greeting, roughly equivalent to $53 USD.
Users can submit any name when requesting a greeting and claim it's for a friend or relative. |
All it means is someone thought that seeing a famous soccer star saying hello to a cartel leader would be worth spending $53 dollars on.
Wtf 🙄🤣
ReplyDeleteHe never really cared about his life. This will not end well.
ReplyDeleteI thought he was dead
ReplyDeleteDude didn't know who was he greeting and I'm sure Mencho had nothing to do with this.
ReplyDeleteDead man walking. Some people are not scared of dying.
ReplyDeleteIm pretty sure that he won't be harmed. A.) He didn't say Mencho, he used his full name. B.)His death would be very high profile and C.) It's not that deep
ReplyDeleteHe would be dead if he said something stupid against mencho but he jut gave a shout out to him.
ReplyDeleteHe's doing it for a charity for God's sake.
It's not like he went in camera saying mencho can suck my duck! Like El pirata
No names..... Gotta pay for shout outs
ReplyDeleteIt's a charity pendejo!
