With three arrest warrants related to the theft of vehicles in various manners, elements of the State Investigation Agency (AEI) captured "El Choricero", alleged leader of a criminal cell dedicated to the theft of cars in the West Zone of Mexicali.

Edgar Jesús, alias "El Choricero", considered one of the priority objectives of car theft in Mexicali, was arrested by elements of the State Investigation Agency (AEI) attached to the West Vehicle Theft area, during a search operation in the University Urban Complex and the Nacionalista neighborhood. 

"El Choricero" is the alleged leader of a criminal cell dedicated to car theft in the West Zone and according to official estimates, it is presumed that the group made up of six individuals could be responsible for an average of 30 car thefts per month.

According to the information reported by the authority, at noon on Wednesday, the capture of this individual was carried out, when elements of the AEI, of the Attorney General's Office (FGE) patrolled the area in search - precisely - of this priority objective, who has three court orders for the crimes of vehicle theft and vehicle theft with violence; all committed in 2022.

However, his criminal record originated from 2015, where he was arrested for the crime of robbery from home. Of that capture to date, he has 14 cases related to illegal activity.

Following the arrest of this priority objective in terms of robberies, the investigation has been strengthened to apprehend the other five members of the criminal cell, who have only been identified by the nicknames of Yamir, Czech, Chava, Serena and Chamizo.
