Footage taken from a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter shows a suspected gunman aiming a weapon at the aircraft near the southern border before a deadly shootout between suspected cartel members and the Mexican military, authorities told Fox News.
The nearly 3-minute video was taken as the chopper was patrolling the Rio Grande Valley Sector in Starr County, which sits on the U.S.-Mexico border. It shows someone on the Mexican side standing next to a vehicle and appearing to aim an AK-47 at the helicopter.
The pilot appears to try and maneuver the aircraft away from the line of fire.
The Mexican government said its military responded and approached a suspected cartel compound in the area, Texas DPS told Fox News. A gunfight ensued and five suspected cartel members were killed.
Another four were arrested and several rifles and a red car were recovered.
The area where the footage was taken has been the site of a number of shooting incidents in recent months when American personnel have been targeted. Heavily-armed cartel members have become a more common sight along the Texas-Mexico border in recent months as U.S. border officials deal with a surge of migrants.
A suspect cartel member appears to point an AK-47 at a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter patrolling on the U.S. side of the southern border.
In February, Border Patrol agents with the Border Patrol Tactical Operations (BORTAC) were fired upon from Mexico. The agents returned fire but no one was hit.
Moments earlier, the Mexican military had engaged in a shootout with cartel members and a man tried crossing into the United States. When a Border Patrol agent jumped in a river to rescue him, the agent was fired upon, authorities said.
In January, members of the National Guard were shot at by possible cartel members in the area. No one was hurt.
In October 2021, cartel members wearing tactical gear and wielding AK-47s near the border were taunting National Guard members, authorities said.
You just don't ever threaten a US official Doing That is a Death or Prision Sentence, doesn't matter who you are
ReplyDeleteYes Cathy, Osiel Vardenas Guillén got one more year for his sicarios threatening US government drug traffickers spying on him:
Delete"In His Own House!!!"
Yeah, according to "American Made" those government guys don't respect their own guys, and Kiki Camarena agrees...
The day in coming to where a cartel member, will fire upon a helicopter of the US side, it's a good thing the Mexician military responded. I am sure the US side, has special SWAT suppression unit for those type of issues.
ReplyDeleteI think they have already done that before.
DeleteYes and they got killed for that.
DeleteNo american swat team is going to just run up in Mexico and go after these guys, or better said this guy, without Mexican athorization and Mexico is just going to stand by and watch! I hope and wish you had that sentiment when on different occasions the boarder patrol shot into Mexico , at times striking, and a couple of times killing some civilians for throwing rocks and sticks at them. One of the people that got killed wasn't even involved, was just standing on the side walk away from the incident and got killed. And they shot into Mexico grom the US side. They didn't even charge them. People talk about justice, where was it then. Fu@#ing hypocrites
DeleteMr. Humble opinion at reading 8:21 comment, he never mentioned that that Swat would enter MEXICO. All it would take is to fire special weapons, if helicopter or US personnel is been fired upon to fire from the US side.

Delete8:57 and you too sanababich...
DeleteThe guy who pointed the rifle would be better off if he didn't survive the shootout. My guess is his boss won't be too happy when he sees the video.
ReplyDeleteSo let me see if I get this right. A cartel member pointed a gun at a US chopper and INSTANTLY the Mexican military responds. Seems like a US life is more important than the hundreds of thousands of Mexican citizens who have died over the years. And the Mexican military responded by going to a "known" cartel hideout and wiping them out. So if no one pointed a gun at a US chopper the military would have let them continue status quo. Smh...
ReplyDeleteYes threats against US citizens are taken more serious. I would you like it if I pointed a gun at your face?
DeleteYour post makes zero sense??
DeleteToppazz he/she is saying how would you like it if a gun was pointed at your face? How would you react?
Delete@toppz462. You sound like one of those Cult of Wokeism zombies.
DeleteLol toppazz is a Zombie lost at bordertown.
DeleteTheirs a partnership between U.S and Mexican law enforcement agencies but many times it's not reported so we don't know about it. The article states that the the military showed up and a confrontation ensued which leads the reader to believe that the mexican side was tipped off by the helicopter pilot. So I don't think it's that a Mexican is valued less, it's that between law enforcement the response time is faster. Think about it in terms of U.S response times for a downed officer in comparison to response times for a regular civilian being shot.
DeleteThey have to protect their income source
Delete11:53, I think you're correct. In the video you go hear the pilot say "let me send you the coordinates.
DeleteI mean their in war so why wouldn't they theeaten their enemy? I would've dumped on that chopper with no hesitation! Just I'd dump on your momma!

He wants to eat your chorizo.
That would ve a stupid move that wouldn't accomplish nothing and would bring unnecessary heat for no reason. What would be you objective by doing that? What would be your point? After that if the law didn't get you (dead or alive) your own people probably would. I could see if they were trying to apprehend you or about to raid your stash house or something, but just because?!!! Doesn't make no sense.
DeleteMy humble opinion will be in later, he is working the day shift at the 7-11 store.
