The Colombian national was arrested in Mexico City and transferred to the facilities of the Public Ministry.
Agents from the intelligence team of the Secretariat for Citizen Security of the Government of Mexico City (SSC) detained John Fredy Quintero Velasquéz, alias 'El Gatillo', a former member of the Colombian army; he allegedly works for a rival criminal organization to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in the state of Michoacán.
According to the investigations of the capital agents, the 35-year-old subject is part of a criminal group called 'Cartel of Los Reyes, Michoacán', which is led by "El Niche" and his lieutenant "El Tamania", also former members of the Colombian armed forces. He previously served in the ranks of the Colombian army but deserted.
Reports indicate that the group was hired by a rival organization to combat the cartel led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias 'El Mencho', as well as Mexican army personnel in Michoacán.
El Gatillo, who allegedly worked as a hit man, was arrested by intelligence agents from the country's capital on the afternoon of this Friday, May 6, on Oaxaca Street, at the corner of Insurgentes Avenue, in the Roma neighborhood, of the Cuauhtémoc district.
During the operation, 50 bags of apparent marijuana, a passport from the Republic of Colombia, a citizenship card and a driver's license in that country, as well as credentials from the Colombian National Army, were seized.
El Gatillo was transferred to the facilities of the Central Strategic Investigation Prosecutor's Office around 3:00 p.m., where he was placed at the disposal of a Public Ministry, he will be investigated for crimes against health, his legal situation will also be decided at this location.
