"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat
The Municipal Police agent was ambushed when he was off duty.
Due to multiple impacts from a firearm, a person was killed who was allegedly an element of the Tijuana Municipal Police.
The victim is speculated to be a supervisor of the active local police forces was ambushed on Cruz del Sur Avenue, between San Felipe and Baja California Sur streets, within the Felipa Velázquez neighborhood.
Being the target of the attack, the officer lost control of the vehicle he was driving, a black Chrysler 300 car, which ended up hitting a containment post in the area.
Witnesses from the area mentioned that they heard the gunfire in the distance, while the closest neighbors noticed the presence of smoke, initially they believed that it was a fire.
At the scene, multiple elements of the municipal and ministerial police appeared, who guarded approximately two blocks in the area waiting for the expert personnel.
So far there are no detainees for the incident, the shooters fled.
As officers guard the scene, they informed people living in the vicinity that they couldn’t enter their homes while the investigation is ongoing for a period of 4 hours.
