Topilejo, CDMX: Images Reveal Vehicles Of Los Chapitos Before Armed Attack

"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

The confrontation yesterday in Topilejo could be linked to a drug shipment abandoned a few days ago in the Benito Juárez borough.

The confrontation recorded yesterday in the town of San Miguel Topilejo, Tlalpan district, could be related to the shipment of cocaine abandoned in a truck last week in the Benito Juárez district.

An exclusive video released by Televisa shows a truck, allegedly owned by "Los Chapitos", loaded with cocaine, guarded by motorcyclists on July 5 under the Prolongación bridge on Avenida Río Mixcoac in the Benito Juárez borough, according to the investigation gunfire could be heard.

After these events, at least two vehicles stopped, as well as the truck and the subjects who came on the motorcycles who approached the X-Trail unit, while other men threatened some motorists with firearms so that they wouldn’t record what happened.

Suddenly the men fled on the motorcycles leaving the vehicle abandoned, minutes later elements of the Benito Juárez police department received a report of an abandoned unit on the low bridge where they secured it. Afterwards elements of the Mexico City Prosecutor's Office located a compartment of double bottom with 32 packages with a white powder with characteristics similar to cocaine.

According to the reporter Antonio Nieto, the investigations of the capital prosecutor's office reveal that the cargo left in the vehicle belonged to "Los Chapitos" and that the bullet found in the unit could have gone to one of its members by mistake.

SHOWDOWN IN TOPILEJO

In an operation in the vicinity of the Mexico-Cuernavaca federal highway near San Miguel Topilejo, 14 drug traffickers were captured, four kidnapped persons were released, as well as four injured policemen, one of them seriously after being shot in the head.

According to the Secretary of Citizen Security of Mexico City, Omar García Harfuch, the arrest of these subjects belonging to a criminal cell of the Sinaloa cartel occurred as a result of several citizen complaints about the existence of a safe house in San Andres Totoltepec.

García Harfuch explained that thanks to the operation, the release of four kidnapping victims was achieved, one of them had been in captivity for 20 days and the other three had been abducted on Tuesday morning.

After this confrontation, it was possible to seize drugs, long weapons, including a 50-caliber Barrett rifle (a high-power machine gun) such as the one used in the so-called "Culiacanazo" on October 17, 2019, when a confrontation between soldiers and criminal groups for the attempted capture of Ovidio Guzmán, son of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, leader of the Sinaloa cartel.

Some of the detainees carried badges with the image of a rodent, which alludes to Ovidio Guzmán López, who is nicknamed "El Ratón", as well as "El Chapo".

In all the badges you can read the legend "Special Forces", as well as the position of "Commander". Similarly, the acronyms "CDS" and "JGL" are visible, which would confirm the affiliation of subjects to Los Chapitos, a cell of the Sinaloa cartel, since the detainees reported by Secretary García Harfuch are from that entity.

In December 2021, the United States Department of Justice announced a $5 million reward for information on the whereabouts of Guzmán Loera's sons: Ovidio Guzmán López, Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar, Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar, and Joaquín Guzmán López.

TOPILEJO DRUG ZONE

The Topilejo area, in the Tlalpan district, is known for having been a refuge for drug traffickers and kidnappers, who have occupied homes set up as "safe houses."

According to police reports consulted by La Silla Rota, cells of the Beltrán Leyva brothers' cartel operated, as well as those of Edgar Valdez Villarreal, "La Barbie", who opened dirt roads to transport drugs from Acapulco, Guerrero.

The transfer was later carried out through Cuernavaca, Morelos, the Ajusco area, while part of the drug, mainly cocaine, went to the State of Mexico through Huixquilucan, and another to Mexico City.

Over the years, authorities dismantled the Beltrán Leyva cartel, its allied group known as La Mano con Ojos, and captured La Barbie.

Then came groups like Los Maceros de "Don Agus", Los Guerreros and El Valente.

    2. "Catalina Terror" aka "Dale" from Mobile, Alabama. All these fools said they were from Sinaloa, if they're born there than they can claim to be Sinaloenses. Maybe they even learned to speak the dialect at twice the speed of regular people while also holding their noses
