"Ivan" for Borderland Beat
The woman whose body was burned in a public street in the capital of Sonora was identified as Arith Alejandra, 25 years old.
The collective Madres Buscadoras de Sonora, deactivated her search and locate file, since she had been missing since last Friday, June 24.
According to the Municipal Police report, the body of the young woman was located at 7:20 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, at Cabo San Antonio and Luis Orcí streets in the Sahuaro neighborhood.
In a message issued at midnight, the prosecutor Claudia Indira Contreras Córdova, informed that an investigation file was opened for the crime of femicide for the deprivation of life of Arith Alejandra.
He detailed that the autopsy performed in the forensic laboratory reveals that she was deprived of her life by asphyxiation by suffocation.
Her body was found in the open, "that is to say, we are dealing with a femicide and as such we are investigating it", said the prosecutor.
She added that they are working according to the protocols for cases of feminicide, in the expert processing, recovery of evidence and interviews.
"If anyone has information related to these events, even those who may have observed the crime scene before the arrival of the authorities, please call 089, your contribution will help to ensure justice for Alejandra and prevent criminals of this type have the opportunity to cause more damage in our community," he asked.
Ceci Patricia Flores Armenta, leader of the collective Madres Buscadoras de Sonora, sent a heartfelt condolence to the young woman's family.
"We greatly regret this and we hope that the Prosecutor's Office does the investigations and those responsible pay, that this death does not go unpunished like that of thousands of women who have been murdered," she said.
