Extradition of Carlos Arturo Quintana 'El 80': leader of 'La Línea' Criminal Group To Be Tried In The U.S.

 "Ivan" for Borderland Beat

The Attorney General's Office (FGR) handed over the leader of the criminal group 'La Línea' to US authorities.

Carlos Arturo Quintana, leader of the criminal group 'La Línea' and better known as 'El 80', was extradited to the United States, announced the Attorney General's Office (FGR), he is accused of crimes such as criminal association and against health, especially drug trafficking from the Mexican state of Chihuahua to the 'neighboring country to the north'.

El 80' is wanted by a federal court in the state of New Mexico in the United States, where he is accused of directing, managing and overseeing criminal activities such as drug trafficking. The FGR handed over this criminal leader in compliance with the Extradition Treaty signed between both nations.

According to the Attorney General's Office, Carlos Arturo Quintana was transferred to Toluca International Airport (AIT) on Sunday, where US authorities were waiting for him and took him to New Mexico. There is still no date for the start of the trial against the leader of 'La Línea'.

In 2018, a federal judge based in Almoloya de Juárez, State of Mexico, issued an arrest warrant for the extradition of 'El 80', which was served in May of that year, when he was arrested in the municipality of Namiquipa, Chihuahua, by the Army and federal police.

Attorney General's Office of the Republic Official Statement:

Press Release FGR 391/22. FGR hands over in extradition a man wanted for the crimes of criminal association and against health.

Mexico City

In compliance with the Extradition Treaty signed between Mexico and the United States of America, the Attorney General's Office (FGR) extradited a Mexican national, requested by the Federal District Court for the District of New Mexico, for his probable responsibility in the crimes of criminal association and against health.

Carlos "Q" is an alleged member of a criminal organization responsible for directing, managing and overseeing drug trafficking activities in the state of Chihuahua to New Mexico, United States.

For this reason, the Attorney General's Office requested a provisional arrest warrant for extradition purposes against this individual from the Specialized District Judge for the Accusatory Criminal System in the State of Mexico, based in Almoloya de Juárez, which was executed in 2018.

The surrender was carried out at the Toluca City International Airport, State of Mexico, to the U.S. agents designated for his transfer to that country.

  1. El 80', leader of La Línea, is extradited to the United States.

He is accused of being the mastermind behind the murder of journalist Miroslava Breach, which occurred in March 2017, and was one of the FBI's most wanted men.

    3. 649. Yes and no. I would say the "war on cartels" initiated by Calderon and followed by Peña Nieto splintered the cartels and created more cartel cell leaders. As long as they keep putting them away I'm happy.

    3. @7:16 How long is a while back? Not trying to argue or anything but I was under the impression that Juan Pablo was one of the most wanted narcos currently, even to the Americans so I’m not sure why his death wouldn’t be bigger news or at least eventually confirmed by officials in the U.S. I even saw the infamous sheriff Grady Judd from Florida talking about him several months ago and heavily implying that he is still alive. As someone who’s been following news to do with La Linea fairly closely lately; I find the claims that this other guy is the leader to be kind of surprising.

    5. Based on what I know he died on a shooting against extinct agency "Policia Federal" on Juarez-Casas Grandes highway. Back in 2012-2013 +/-. In 2018 Federal authorities took down the most wanted prize of 750k USD+/- they were offering for him. Not a surprise, since CDS, Policia Federal and even Gabino wanted him death. They could have lots of reasons to hide the body. Since there were no official declarations after his death. By that time SEDENA and Policia Federal were openly collaborating with CDS during the Cartels war 2006-2013.

  6. The online site Insight Crime is reporting that Black Thursday a week and a half ago in Juarez was in retaliation to the fight that broke out in El Cereso from Juarez where two Chapos gang members were killed.
They say the Mexicles that work under the Sinaloa cartel were ordered to disturb the city because of that fight. More than ten innocent people lost their lives that day including two women in a store and four radio djs.
Where are the Sinaloa nutthuggers that say Sinaloa does not kill innocents?
