Mexicali, Baja California: Another Two Of “Los M” Members Apprehended During Rescue Of Kidnapped Migrants

This matter concerns a Michoacán native and another from Mexicali, who kept a couple in confinement 

The caregivers of a couple of people who had been kidnapped since last September 5, were arrested during an operation carried out by elements of the Anti-kidnapping Group of the State Attorney General's Office (FGE).

The crime was made known by the institution through a press release on Monday, September 12, detailing the intervention of the elements, who followed up on the denouncement made by relatives of the victims. 

After carrying out search operations, it was possible to find an address located on Gordos street, in the Villas del Rey III subdivision, south of Mexicali, where after a search, Eduardo Antonio and Jocabed, 20 years old, were arrested. They are both originally from the states of Michoacán and Mexicali, respectively.

After the initial investigation, it was confirmed that both belonged to the criminal gang "Los M", whose alleged leader is an individual from Hidalgo, named Mariano Maldonado Mejía, who has prior records for the crime of kidnapping, but has avoided prosecution. 

With this operation, there are six detainees, four of them already linked to criminal proceedings for the crime of kidnapping.

According to the information provided by the FGE, the couple was deceived into believing that they would help them enter the United States. But as soon as they arrived at the home they were subdued, tied hand and foot, and then forced to contact their relatives to demand the sum of $16,000 in exchange for their release.
