"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat
Two of three men burned in a Guadalupe y Calvo plane crash had been arrested and freed by drug traffickers earlier this year.
This is a case of divine justice.
Two crew members of the small plane that crashed yesterday in Guadalupe y Calvo were influential figures in the underworld.
Ismael Rodriguez and Uriel Eriberto Urias Castro were arrested in February along with Efren "El Maniaco" as members of the Salgueiro Gente Nueva cartel.
All were released without charges days later.
The small plane in which they were traveling crashed in the San Francisco de los Salgueiro ranchería, where the aircraft became entangled in some wires and burned with three crew members on board.
They had been arrested by the Prosecutor's Office in Chihuahua for carrying drugs and assault weapons.

DeleteHe is one of the main founders of Gente Nueva .. there’s several factions of Gente Nueva ..los Salguerios .. los Salazar .. Gente Nueva del Tigre .. Gente Nueva del Jaguar ..M100 crew .. Gente Nueva del Cazador .. El Goyito’s crew .. but it is my understanding that el Flaco with support from el Bravo (Chapo’s former head of security) founded the first Gente Nueva group by (in some cases forcibly)recruiting and training sicarios from the sierras of the Golden Triangle and from there sending them to different war zones like Tamaulipas and Veracruz .. this was shortly prior to the war with La Linea kicking off in late 2007 .. once the Juarez war started all Gente Nueva forces were brought back to Chihuahua to fight off La Linea and the Juarez Cartel which is still going on now and not looking good .. I’ve always been intrigued by Mayo’s crew that operates in Chihuahua .. in the underworld there is much talk about a fellow known as El M6 who runs a lot of blow through Parral and into Juarez and Ojinaga for El Mayo… this guy or faction of CDS has been left undisturbed to operate in Chihuahua during the entire Sinaloa vs Juarez war and as far as I know until now.. leads me to believe that the war was mostly Carrillo faction vs Guzman faction

Gente Nueva was originally with Juarez? I thought the name itself was invented for the assault on Juarez against Vicente? As in, we are the new people, come to take over, for those who don't believe etc etc. Might be wrong, so I'd appreciate it if anyone can correct me.

Delete"Gente Nueva" emerged as people working for CDS since 2006-present in areas where CDS presence wasnt common (term mostly used in Chihuahua and Sonora). Some of them were people from other places, some other people who switched sides. First places where that term was used was mostly in Chihuahua (including Juarez). Although they are not new anymore, term still used to refer to any group working for CDS.

Delete@ Cheers Sol. I know the literal translation is loose, I was just questioning whether Gente Nueva were originally from the Juarez cartel, which the comment seemed to suggest, and whether they were the same Gente Nueva that were sent to Juarez to take over the protection rackets by Chapo.
