"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat
Samples will be gathered on November 12 and 13 at the Mundo Nuevo Matamoros Convention Center. |
The Attorney General's Office (FGR) will collect blood samples from people who have had a missing family member reported missing between 2008 and 2016 in Tamaulipas. This day will be aimed at people who have no prior history sample collection. AM (Antes Mortem) questions and diffusion or inquiry forms will be applied as part of the program ¿Has visto a...? (Have you seen...?)
"They're going to accept the blood samples without a formal complaint. This is important for people who previously didn't want to file a complaint. Everyone is encouraged to go even if their relatives haven't disappeared on those dates because the genetic profiles they donate will be registered in the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS)," explained activist Delia Quiroa Flores.
Since August 2021, when the discovery of human remains began in La Bartolina, considered an extermination camp, only two bodies have been identified, and they were two Mexican migrants who had been deported from the United States.
The activist confirmed that these skeletons were handed over to their relatives after a series of forensic studies, the first one at the beginning of this year, and the second one was handed over in July.
In the field of La Bartolina it is estimated that there may be remains of at least two thousand people who have not been identified. Most of them would have been migrants coming from the south of the continent or from the states of the Mexican Republic, that is why they will be implementing the campaign "Taking Samples for Identification" in Matamoros. In September, the search for evidence of missing persons in La Bartolina was suspended because FGR personnel received threats from armed men, informed at the time the representative of the Colectivo Diez de Marzo, Delia Quiroa.
La Bartolina is an area located in Matamoros, on the border between Mexico and the United States, which for years was used as an extermination camp by members of organized crime; the National Search Commission (CNB) reported that half a ton of charred skeletal remains had been collected there.
Thank you for sharing, Sol. I think this is a good initiative and kudos to Matamoros for hosting this. I hope the support and coordination eventually extends with Brownsville/McAllen authorities since there were many people who relocated to South Texas once their relatives went missing in Matamoros as early as 2009/2010. Some of these families will never cross back to Mexico.

Delete6:53 50 000 US servicemen died in Vietnam, 500 000 vietnamese dead, mostly innocent, b ed cause some hot heads wanted a war to save SE Asia from communism while stealing from the us Treasury, and then they still lost the war...
DeleteIn México, (tamaulipas and Veracruz, Nayarit, chihuahua), much of that genocide is from governors stealing land from entire families and contracted disappearances of caravans to save the US from immigrant criminals and rapists, makes me wonder if their scalps are still worth a dollar each for the Cartel de las Vacas Locas, the governor and his state police.
Stalin murdered his people with hunger, and firing squads, some delivered to them by the US, Iraqis and chileans dead from torture and mass murder by the US and friends, say gringos keep out.
@6:53 You forgot to put your name so everyone could know how bad you are and that you back up the sh*t you talk. I understand the sentiment, but all these ladies want to do is find their loved ones (hopefully they do and alive and well) or their remains. Unfortunately alot of law enforcement, different branches of the government, and the government itself have been corrupt for a long time. AMLO is trying to change things but unfortunately there’s alot of shady and behind the stage elements as well, as alot of individuals that stay in the shadows, putting up resistance and/or fronting and acting like they want this to stop when in reality they could care less. And not just the opposition, but people from his own party as well (look at what Monreal was doing behind everyone’s back). Getting worked up and taking smack will not help the situation none
ReplyDelete1:47 Looks like someone do understand politics in Mexico. Great comment.
