"HEARST" for Borderland Beat
After police received a report about an unknown armed man spotted in a residential neighborhood, a house was raided and inside authorities found a custom-armored narco tank in Vícam, located within Guaymas, Sonora.
On Saturday, October 1, 2023, an anonymous caller contacted the emergency phone line and reported they had seen a man brandishing a firearm at a property in Vícam.
Municipal police officers and soldiers from the Marines (SEMAR) were sent to respond to the call. They presumably did not find anyone inside the home because no arrests have been reported.
They did, however, find the following items:
Rhino-type vehicle/tank, with custom armor
Chevrolet Cheyenne 4-door pickup, black
Dodge pickup, black, with a theft report
Toyota sedan, black
Mustang sedan, black
Motorcycle
3 AK47-style firearms
2 R15-style firearms
4 tactical vests, green
1 ballistic helmet
Ammo
Several doses of crystal meth and a quantity of marijuana

Thats not very useful when fighting SEDENA or Marina... specially when top speed is like 8mph.. SandCat used by mexican army did a huge difference, there are some videos of it on action.

The chisme is that it's a money laundering scheme for some narcos and that they have already sunk millions into the design, building, storage and transport. DeleteThis one from Sonora is a little rough but it has potential as an art car - it needs some light-show and a bumping sound system, and some air-conditioning to handle the desert. Maybe Burning Man would even give them a grant like they do some of the other art cars.
