In the first 10 months of the year, Guanajuato registered 2,717 victims of intentional homicide to remain first in absolute numbers and eighth in per capita rate.
This means an average of 9 homicide victims per day.
In October, the official data released this Tuesday by the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System is 293 victims in the state, which is 31 less than the 324 registered in the AM/Al Día count published on the 2nd.
The morning Security Report headed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the security cabinet, presented the data which places Guanajuato in first place in absolute victims with 2,717, followed by Baja California with 2,279, State of Mexico 2,191, Michoacán 2,111 and Jalisco 1,771.
These entities, in addition to Chihuahua with 1,170 victims, concentrate 49% of the country's intentional homicide crimes in the period January to October 2022.
In contrast, the entities with the fewest victims are: Durango (112), Campeche (65), Aguascalientes (64), Baja California Sur (52) and Yucatan (35).
Slight decrease compared to 2021
Compared to the period January-October 2021, when 2,950 victims of this crime were registered in Guanajuato, this year the reduction is 8%.
Nationally there are 26,119 victims, one out of 10 are from Guanajuato, 10.4%. In the country, the reduction from January-October of this year compared to 2021 is 7.1%.
In the indicator of victims of intentional homicide per 100 thousand inhabitants Guanajuato is in eighth place with a rate of 42.91, below: Colima, Zacatecas, Baja California, Morelos, Sonora, Chihuahua and Michoacán.
In Guanajuato, 83% (2,260) of the victims were killed by firearm. Nationally, the average number of homicides resulting from firearms is 70%.
Priority municipalities
In the report of the 50 priority municipalities for January-October, intentional homicides decreased 12.1%, in 32 there was a decrease of 24.8% and in 18 there was an increase of 7.9%.
Of the five in Guanajuato, Leon dropped from 603 to 507 homicide cases, to remain in third place behind Tijuana (1,519) and Juarez (745).
Also noteworthy is the drop in Apaseo el Grande, from 136 to 53 files this year.
On the other hand, there is an increase in the 2021-2022 comparative in this crime in Celaya, from 319 to 383; in Irapuato from 196 to 227; and in Salamanca from 125 to 142.
Relevant results
In the report presented by the head of the Sedena, General Luis Cresencio Sandoval González, on the use of intelligence, highlights the arrest of Sergio Gerardo "N" "Pancho", described as one of the main human traffickers from Turkey and Central and South American countries to the United States, stands out.
"On November 12, there was also a joint intelligence operation, where some search warrants and investigation orders were registered, and the arrest of one of the main human traffickers from Turkey and South America to the United States was achieved in Ciudad Juarez, Silao (Gto) and Coacalco," he said.
As for the seizure of weapons on the 10th in the Pradera neighborhood, Irapuato, there were five long arms, two short arms, cartridges and 39 explosive devices.
