Is AMLO in Badiraguato to Negotiate?

Over the weekend, AMLO made his way to the municipality of Badiraguto in Sinaloa. The same Badiraguato municipality where he is being accused of meeting with members of the Sinaloa Cartel.

 

At his daily press conference on Wednesday, The president lashed out with a challenge to news outlets and pundits to present evidence of his ties to cartels. If proven, he promises to resign.

“There is also a campaign on the networks that I am going to Sinaloa, to Badiraguato, to meet with members of the Sinaloa Cartel. No, I am going to Sinaloa because it is a state of good people, hard-working people who should not be stigmatized. For those who do not have information, Sinaloa is the breadbasket of the country,” he said on Monday, November1, 2022.

López Obrador has visited the Cartel Sinaloa stronghold 4 times, and 5th already been planned. There is abundant media focused on AMLO allegedly supporting the Sinaloa Cartel through his actions and behavior.

As is customary, the meetings held in this municipality restrict access to the press and to the communication channels of the Presidency, so the information is usually disseminated by different Internet users through social networks, and if the president decides to share his own "transparent" accounts.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said, on November 1, 2022, that he would greet María Consuelo Loera Pérez, mother of Sinaloa chief Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera, alias "El Chapo", because he respects older people, as well as anyone. In addition to the fact that he said that he has a clear conscience.

AMLO personally greeted Chapo's mother on a previous visit.

The Proposal

Manuel Espino Barrientos is the former commissioner of the Federal Protection Service of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection. On October 27, 2022, Espino revealed the "Security and Justice for a Better Mexico" in the Senate of the Republic. Espino presented the federal government with a proposal in which the government would reach an agreement with organized crime groups and pacify the country.

He explained that he even managed to reach some organized crime groups and got a response from two but avoided offering more details so that he would not be accused of being indiscreet. Espino indicated that the proposal was put in the hands of the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López.

Is the Mexican Government considering brokering a peace deal with CDS and CJNG?  

The more appropriate question is: Is Mexico capable of something like this, and what would it look like? The rumors say the cartels would like to be legitimate to the government without risk of prison, extradition, or profit loss.   

For the Government, I presume they basically want everything the same without the rise of violent crime and the number of "missing."  The only problem is this proposal would not change anything regarding the main culprit, corruption.
