"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat
An armed criminal cell executed four taco workers who were attending a stand during the early hours of Wednesday morning, in the municipality of Salamanca, in Guanajuato.
The incident, according to local media, occurred at a stand located on Poza Rica street, between Naranjos and Tierra Blanca streets, in the Bellavista neighborhood, when around 1:00 a.m. the group of armed men arrived at the taco stand and shot them directly, even though there were customers present.
The taqueria is near the Ing. Antonio M. Amor refinery of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).
According to local media reports, neighbors called 911 emergency services to report the attack. Two men died at the scene, while two others lost their lives while receiving hospital care.
Last June, an armed group killed six people outside a school in the municipality of Salamanca, Guanajuato.
The multiple homicide took place in the community of Barrón, Salamanca, when the victims were talking after a neighborhood meeting.
Police reports indicate that among the victims there are two women and four men, the age of the victimsnkilled by the murderers is unknown at this time.
On Wednesday, November 15, state and federal authorities arrested 71 people in Guanajuato accused of terrorism, homicide, femicide, robbery and kidnapping, in addition to the seizure of weapons, drugs, bombs and rocket launchers.
"On the occasion of the events registered in the state, the State Attorney General's Office exchanged information and deployed operations with federal and state authorities achieving the arrest of 71 people classified as relevant targets, highlighting the capture of those related to criminal acts that altered social peace in various parts of the entity, through acts such as setting fire to vehicles, massacres and various high impact crimes."
In a press release, the state government gave a breakdown of the crimes it is pursuing.
"Based on the evidence obtained from the investigations, these subjects have been arrested for the crimes of terrorism, homicide, femicide, robbery and kidnapping."
