By "El Huaso" for Borderland Beat
Two men were killed and another was injured after gunmen opened fire on a taco stand early this morning in Oaxaca City, Oaxaca this morning. The owner of the stand and a customer were the victims.
The attack occurred at the intersection of 20 de noviembre and Las Casas street in the historic center of the states capitol. According to Rio Oaxaca, the attackers arrived on a motorbike, a common modus operandi for hitmen in Mexico. When police arrived, the two men had already died, and the third injured man was taken to the hospital.
Oaxaca ranks 14th by homicide count this year with 808 deaths, according to the most recent government crime data.
