FGR Seizes Exotic Animals At San Gabriel, Jalisco, Ranch

After executing a search warrant in a ranch in the municipality of San Gabriel, personnel from the Jalisco delegation of the Attorney General's Office of the Republic, seized several exotic animals.

This federal agency announced that the investigation folder was initiated after elements of the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) informed the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) of a ranch in the vicinity of the community of Jiquilpan, in the municipality of San Gabriel, where several animals such as a Bengal tiger were observed from the outside.

Subsequently, the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office requested the search, and then the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM) of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC), with the support of specialized experts, carried out the search.

The following were seized inside the ranch: a Bengal tiger, seven buffaloes and two ostriches.

The property and the seized animals were handed over to the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office in Jalisco, who will continue with the investigation to find the whereabouts of the owner of the ranch.

The animals were handed over to the Procuraduría Federal de Protección al Ambiente (Profepa).

In May 2021, the Attorney General's Office made another similar seizure in a property located at kilometer 13 of the highway to Saltillo, in the Lomas del Pedregal neighborhood, in Zapopan.

Several exotic animals were found there, including an eagle, two Bengal tigers, a crocodile and a turtle, as well as 22 birds, seven pigs, a pony, 26 sheep, three horses and four dogs.
