New Provisional Suspension Granted Against Ovidio Guzman's Extradition To The U.S.

 "Ivan" for Borderland Beat

A Judge granted a provisional suspension to Ovidio Guzmán López, alias "El Ratón", son of Joaquín el Chapo Guzmán, against his extradition to the United States to stand trial, as well as for acts of in-communication, detention, and torture.

Juan Mateo Brieba de Castro, Sixth District Judge of Amparo in Criminal Matters, determined that the provisional suspension is for the effect that the extradition order is not executed and that he remains at the disposal of the amparo jurisdictional body and is not handed over to the U.S. Government.

"The provisional suspension is decreed with respect to the extradition act and its execution, so that it is not executed and the plaintiff remains in the place where he is at the disposition of this court, only with respect to his personal liberty and is not handed over to the Government of the United States of America," the Judge ruled.

Brieba de Castro announced that El Raton ratified the amparo lawsuit, which was filed by his lawyer Alberto Diaz Mendieta, and set the hearing for Wednesday, January 12, date in which he will determine if he will grant the definitive suspension.

  6. The process of extradition takes at least a year to a couple of years with most anyone regardless of what people here seem to think or have an opinion on.
That is just the way the law works in Mexico. Eventually he will be extradited.
