Elements of the Mexican Army and the Civil Guard detained an alleged operator linked to the Jalisco Cartel - New Generation (CJNG) in the municipality of Aguililla.

According to reports, the woman, identified as Alma Antonia Calderon Garcia "Almilla", was captured in possession of several doses of drugs in this region of Tierra Caliente.

It was reported that "Almilla" was arrested as a result of a coordinated effort by state and federal forces in the town of Peña Colorada, in southern Michoacán, while transporting doses of a drug known as "ice".

Ice" is a form of methamphetamine, a potent and addictive stimulant that is sold and used illicitly; it can resemble small pieces of glass. It is fairly clear or has a slight color, and each crystal has sharp edges.

Calderon Garcia is the romantic partner of an individual known as Lucas Fierros Mora, "El Mataguaches," alleged CJNG plaza chief in Aguililla, responsible for explosive attacks against military personnel, murders, kidnappings, extortion and disappearances.

Both are accused of kidnapping five villagers from the town of La Bocanda, who have been missing since December 30. The victims are a 68-year-old farmer, his wife, a 13-year-old minor and two workers.

Alma Calderón was handed over to the federal Public Prosecutor's Office, without detailing how many doses of drugs were seized.
