A convoy of National Guard and Army units was required to take the former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel to the hospital.

Héctor "El Güero" Palma entered the hospital by his own will and stayed for a short time.

Héctor "El Güero" Palma Salazar was taken from the Altiplano prison to the Adolfo López Mateos Medical Center, a highly specialized facility, during the afternoon of Thursday, February 9. Initial reports indicated that federal authorities came to supervise the facility.

At the time of the incident, there was no information about his condition and he was transferred. Journalist Carlos Jiménez reported that El Güero Palma was there for approximately 20 minutes for a routine check-up.

It was at approximately 4:00 p.m. that a security device began at the Altiplano prison, a convoy with units of the National Guard and the Army guarded an armored vehicle that arrived at the hospital.

El Güero Palma descended on his own feet and entered the building, according to reporter Mario Rodríguez of Milenio, who also reported that the Centro de Readaptación Social (Cereso) No. 1, better known as the Altiplano prison, has medical services.

After Güero Palma's entry, which was registered at around 5:20 a.m., the security device was dismantled and a National Guard patrol was on standby in the area.
