Tempe Police, DEA, Arizona AG Announce Large-Scale Drug Bust

"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

A three-year investigation culminated Thursday with the announcement that more than 150 people have been charged and drugs seized after local, state, and federal authorities targeted the Sinaloa drug cartel.

The results of the investigation were announced in Tempe.

“Our mission to reduce the supply and demand of illegal drugs within the city of Tempe would not be successful without the collaboration and, more specifically, the hard work and dedication of our detectives, special agents and professional staff,” said interim Tempe Police Chief Josie Montenegro.

That work, officials said, led to arrests and the seizure of more than 4.5 million fentanyl-laced fake prescription pills, 66 kilograms of fentanyl powder, 138 kilograms of cocaine, 3,100 pounds of methamphetamine, 35 kilograms of heroin, 49 firearms and more than $2 million dollars.

The narcotics seized in the investigation is valued at over $13 million, authorities said.

“The fentanyl seized represents more than 30 million potentially lethal doses,” they said in a release.

“This investigation is part of DEA’s work in defeating the criminal drug cartels, Sinaloa and Jalisco, who continue to drive addiction and drug poisonings in communities nationwide, threatening the safety and health of Americans.

The Sinaloa Cartel is responsible for nearly all deadly narcotics flooding into Arizona, according to officials.

“DEA Arizona is laser focused on the Sinaloa Drug Cartel. We will not stop,” said DEA Special Agent in Charge Cheri Oz. “This investigation is a testament to our strong partnerships, which enable us to gain the necessary advantage over these evil criminal networks.”

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes said: “There are few families in our state and across our country that haven't been touched in some way by the scourge of the opioid epidemic and fentanyl crisis.

"I am very proud of our agents' work and am grateful for our strong partnerships with other law enforcement agencies. Getting these drugs off the street will undoubtedly save lives."

  2. Damn that's a huge bust, 150 kilos of cocaine!! You know that's gotta hurt usually they just have like 8-10 kos of cocaine per shipment with 1 metric ton of ice & several million fetty pills.

Do anyone actually like that shit?

    1. It was a 3 year investigation so that’s a total for that time frame. It wasn’t just one busy that had that total amount.

    2. 7:37 so small fries regarding the drugs and 2 million cash right? The indictments will net big money when the plea bargaining begins especially if it's linked to Ovidio

    3. @7:48, any poison caught and removed from the streets isn’t “small fry”. However, there is a huge difference between one bust of 150 kilos and xyz amount of other items versus a 3 year investigation that intercepts all this. A cartel will definitely rather lose product/profits over 3 years than all in one bust. It is a single tear drop in the Pacific Ocean.

    1. Right … the same way they end any gang in the US . Didn’t they go after MS13 ? And failed miserably , that they don’t even bring it up anymore . I’m sure cartels would be sooo much. Easier . Cough Sarcasm . Has. The US ever been able to dismantle any drug trafficking gang completely? I really would like to know because I can’t think of any -I may be wrong -I mean the Italians seemed to have regrouped .

      Delete
    2. The real question is who did they ever want to dismantle completely?

  4. I just gotta say it’s funny af to see how invested some you dumb mfs are into other drug dealers like they clapping your ass cheeks 😂😂

Take it from someone who’s been kidnapped twice, lost family, and made plenty of money.

At the end of it ain’t shit to show for it. Believe me when I say I’m happier than I ever was not looking behind my back, walking around with 3 cell phones, leaving the room to talk business, and no longer hanging around envious or erratic mfs.

Believe me when I say you can make good money w 99% less stress.

Anyway all you punks who think you’re big because you know some mf in Mex that would kill you and your family out of paranoia or for an extra dollar GOT ME FUCKED UP. 😂😂

    3. 839 It matters who you negotiate and network with. The stress that is not the case for everyone. You can be related to an independent and have people helping you where you do not have to personally see anybody. Depends how you look at it. In general those that floss and flex are just as empty as girls with implants trying to fill voids.

    4. In Mexico of course, was told I or my family would be killed because someone I was working w had stolen a shipment. Luckily because of the people I knew neither of those things happened and we just had to make sure the money was paid.

2nd time was a mix up, rumors etc, not even drug related although they beat the fuck out of me and took me a few month to recover.

Was actually 3rd but that was more of a drive around and questioning, once they saw I wasn’t flinching or fucking around they let me get out the car, a shipment had fell and they were questioning if I was playing them but it just popped. I told them no one wins 100% of the time, I wish all my shipments made it too shit lol

At least 2 of those people that picked me up are already dead if not all 3 from all those events. One along the border of Sonora and Chihuahua in a shoot out, the other got killed in a change of power, I think the third guy also got killed or ran out of town. The second one and his boss were doing work w the ops in another Mex state.

Pero alv ya vv los dos, y ya me di cuenta que están bien pendejos los que se aferran a esa vida. Ya casi todos que conozco se retiraron, los arrestaron, o están enterrados en algún lado.

It was an experience for sure, felt amazing to make that much money at that young age, but once you have kids and if you really care about your family you know that shit ain’t it. I’m in my early 30s now.

Puro pinche chapulín, dedo, rata, envidios@s, metiches, traicioneros.

It’s a dog eat dog business. At some point the people under you want to jump over you at any cost.

Appreciate the good comments, y que chinguen a su madre los que no.

I make that comment again since in your maseta you believe people on here were hablando mierda about you when nobody knows who the hell you are🤣🤣. No mames!
I've known many men in the business who have retired when they had to, the dope game ain't forever unless you've done some shit, debt free and better off than when they started pero la gente que se mueve ya no son los mismos de antes.

    6. I didn’t say anyone was talking shit bro, but I’ve been following this page even when I was hustling to have a better understanding of shit that was going on in and around the area

Plus I already know how fucking nena some of the people on here are so I just put it out there ahead of time, I already know the cheerleader psychology a shot ton of people have on here. They’ll be defending shit they ain’t ever been apart of just because their family is in the game o porque les gusta alucinar a lo pendejo compa 😎

Now that its been long enough for me to reflect I don’t regret anything I did because very one know border town are all le enforcement and mfs baby sitting you as correction officers. So I have to ask everyone here if you realize that had there been an effort to bring better jobs or better opportunities in the area then maybe I would’ve have felt like that was the only way I wasn’t gonna be living paycheck to paycheck. Tell me why so many border town city councils are so fucking incompetent.

After cleaning up my record and having that first hand experience and having a kid I realize shit could be better.

Won’t solve all the issues, drug dealing is a cult culture, and some people love the adrenaline of feeling powerful or like you’re apart of something secret. I could tell you stories but all I can say is don’t sleep on politics. These mfs in power take our tax dollars and sit on there fucking asses. I could do a better fucking job than these soft as mfs that think they know everything because they got a PhD. Experience comes second to none, I know why I did what I did, more than anyone else and I know a lot of people share my perspective.

Fucked up household with drug use, young parents here illegally, on welfare, no education, family in prison, in gangs, in the game, raised by uncles, tossed from family to family.

I was about to repeat that same cycle unknowingly until I picked up on it and said fuck that shit.

My son know who his father is, my mom ain’t stressing, and now I ve cleaned up most of my record and got my bachelors at 29. I understand desperation and hopelessness but I ain’t a sob story, I don’t need pity from anyone I made sure to pick myself the fuck up after I got caught up and caught a fed misdemeanor and a state felony.

I’m fr trying to use my experience in a positive way, as I should.

    7. I also gotta say drug dealing is a bad habit to kick if you have dreams of living good and wealthy and you don’t really feel confident that there’s another way to get there. It’s just as bad as gambling, which is also a bad habit I picked up. I was 19 very first time I got caught up, went back did it again and again got caught 2 more time. Didn’t stop until after I had a kid and was 28 once I saw another path. If I didn’t see another better opportunity idk that would’ve stopped but I found purposeful work that made me feel like I was redeeming myself and helping people. I never thought I was gonna go thru all the shit that I did but fuck it, it’s a good story to tell people that think there’s nothing out there for them. Believe me there is but it’s gonna take some sacrifice, discipline, and surrounding yourself by better people and knowing what triggers you so you can stay away from it.

    8. You got your Bachelor's while hustling. You said you stopped at 28 when you had your kid and 29 got your education. During freshman, sophomore and junior year you were moving the bag. Nice. Seems like you had lots of fun in Tempe and Scottsdale. Very concise, it comes down to ones self security of who they are and confidence. You are right same energy used to hustle, can be applied to hustle legit products. Good stuff breh. I have a BS too

      Delete
    9. Yeah I was hitting the books and moving the bag, hustling was just a way to get thru school but once you touch those bands.. you get a little distracted.

All the gambling, partying, and women were in Mexico, I spent a lot of time in Mexico but lived on the US side across the border, that’s where I coordinated and organized myself. I was living along the border at the time getting my associates, it was after I got caught up that I moved to the valley and made sure I proved it to myself it wasn’t all for nothing. I always finish what I start. Consistency and discipline are key in everything you do. Glad to see you got your education as well, we ain’t done yet. Still chasing that money but with more wisdom and maturity.

  6. They are busting it because nobody wants to buy it anymore there are no more customers for fetty or meth here in Tempe Mesa chandler . There is new ordinance that you cannot loiter anywhere in the city they will arrest you. This why all the junkies are in phoenix avondale Mary vale all the avenues are filled with junkies..junkies have zero money so who will buy all this stuff..also every Junkie they arrest will snitch out were they got it from just so they can be let go…once again only reason they busting this much is because nobody wants it anymore there not much money to make anymore only junkies selling to junkies to get high for free..the price of all those drugs is not in the millions hell no..I promise you that the streets are still filled with drugs and junkies..

    3. 12:46 yes, it would seem that in 2023 if you're a homie "in the cartel" or a ganster biker from the streets that lives under the bridge next to the railroad station train tracks......you're selling meth and fetty and maybe some fake drugs or drugs laced with fetty and meth

and the Sinaloa Cartel is a bunch of white snitching thieves running around raping and stealing and snitching so they can goto jail and get high on meth and fetty and get nut butter in their eye

      Delete
    4. 12:46 fetty blues fentanyl goes for as little as $0.50 cents to 3$ on the street retail in your area..... you don't need $1000 a day anymore to be a needle junkie loser shooting dope

ohhh its so sad i need to steal from 20 people every day so I can get $750 to support my RX pill, crack cocaine, and meth additiction......

2023 all you need is $1-5 to die. that's probably why you see so many people out there in public giving people dollar bills and fives and tens with an evil glimmer in their eyeball sockets, it just takes one more pill and this piece of shit low life needle junky pervert won't be alive to ruin the planet,.... here junkie come and get it

  7. This completely makes sense, I totally agree.
