Guacamaya Leaks Uncovers Pact Between "Marro" and the National Guard: They Paid Them 120,000

"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

The elements asked "El Padrino", "Marro's" ally in the State of Mexico, for 120,000 pesos per night to help them extract LP gas from pipelines in Celaya.

ORGANIZED CRIME

For 120,000 pesos a night, members of the National Guard helped José Antonio Yépez Ortiz, alias "El Marro", and "El Padrino", a Mexican drug trafficker, to smuggle stolen LP gas from Guanajuato to the State of Mexico.

The above is documented by the Sedena and is part of a report leaked by hacktivists called Guacamaya.

It all started as an alliance that the two capos began to weave in January 2019, when they had their first meeting, according to the leaked document obtained by El Sol. They had come together to seek a solution that would allow them to continue committing crimes after a federal government strategy implemented to combat oil theft.

Jose Trinidad Zarco, alias "El Padrino," and "El Marro," leader of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel were huachicol kingpins in their regions: Mexico State and Guanajuato, respectively. Their criminal activities related to the theft of hydrocarbons, particularly that of "El Marro," were affected after the federal government shut down Pemex pipelines in the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel leader's area of operation.

Desperate after having his main source of income taken away, he sought out "El Padrino" for the possibility of a possible alliance. They met in January 2019 and just over a year later began operating together, but there were more than 2 in this criminal operation against federal strategies.

National Guard gets involved

According to the documents obtained by the aforementioned media, the Sedena became aware of the involvement of members of the National Guard after having intercepted several calls from the "Godfather".

The elements in charge of the guard would allow LP gas pipes to pass through Atizapán de Zaragoza, State of Mexico every third day. The deal was that they would not check them, but if they did, they would report that they found no anomalies in them.

The month they made the alliance, on April 8, 2020, in some calls that tapped the "Godfather," the narco from the State of Mexico confirmed that he had already agreed with "El Chido" of the National Guard so that "El Marro" could operate in Celaya.

The elements asked "El Padrino" for 120,000 pesos per night.

Diego Sinhue denounces the participation of Pemex

"I'm going to send you an engineer from Pemex who will do the job for you", said "El Padrino" to "El Marro" during the meeting.

This was revealed by the Attorney General's Office (FGR) during the hearing that led to the indictment of the leader of the Santa Rosa de Lima cartel in 2020, after he was captured on August 2 of that year.

In an interview with Reforma on August 18, 2020, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez, governor of Guanajuato, considered that the criminal rise of "El Marro" and the organization he led could not have happened without collusion with people within Pemex.

"We are talking about the fact that, from within the refinery, there was great complacency so that the cartel could grow to these levels," he said in an interview.
