Tijuana, Baja California: "El 500" Arrested For Attack on FGE Agent

"Sol Prendido" for Borderland Beat

Luis Adán, alias "El 500" was arrested in Tijuana for the attempted murder of José Alberto Martínez Enríquez, deputy chief of Homicide at the State Attorney General's Office (FGE).

With an arrest warrant, elements of the State Investigation Agency (AEI), carried out an operation on the afternoon of Monday, March 6 in the vicinity of Zona Rio, in which they were able to locate and arrest "El 500", after which a transfer operation was coordinated with the participation of AEI agents, elements of the Mexican Army (Sedena) and officers of the National Guard (GN), to intern Luis Adan in the maximum security area of the Social Reinsertion Center "El Hongo" in Tecate.

According to the Attorney General's Office, the Sinaloa Cartel is the instigator of violence and murders that have occurred in Tijuana recently. "El 500" and his group of hitmen are also being investigated for their alleged responsibility in more than 35 homicides.

To date, 17 members of "El 500"'s criminal group have allegedly been arrested for various crimes, among them José Luis "N" alias "El Tilin" and Roberto "N", alias "Don Robert", who are alleged to be the perpetrators of the attack against the investigating officer.

The Sinaloa Cartel itself claimed responsibility for the attack in a narco-message:

"This is going to happen to all police or government personnel that support the half brothers. Puma, Predrito, and the few daydreaming Jalisco gunmen left over who torch vehicles. Sincerely, CDS" reads the writing.

This is in reference to Javier Adrián Beltrán Cabrera and Isaac Alhiu Chávez Cabrera, leaders of the criminal cell identified as "Los Erres" who have operated for different cartels and are currently allied with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) faction that follows the Osegueras, and identified by the FGE as responsible for the burning of cars that took place in different Baja California municipalities on August 12, 2022.

Martínez was the agent who on February 10, 2023, at the direct request of businessman Jesús González Lomelí and Tijuana councilman Alex Cabrera Acosta, escorted Arturo González "Panther Bélico", singer of the group Arriesgado who was threatened by Jalisco to leave Plaza 2000 in Tijuana, after gunmen fired shots.

The investigator was attacked on February 22 in front of his house and evaded most of the shots from the first two shooters by jumping into the back seat, the third attacked through the trunk, causing wounds to his spleen, kidney and small intestine.

Through the video surveillance cameras, those in charge of the case were able to realize that their partner had been followed at least two weeks before the issue with Grupo Arriesgado.

It should be noted that although the agent has no criminal record or suspicion of criminal behavior, he does have a reputation for being a "tough" interrogator, the FGE's investigations were based on looking for alleged criminals arrested in investigations worked by Alberto Martinez in the last two months, mainly related to the Sinaloa cartel.

  1. Who cares who claims what? It’s all lies and propaganda that nobody in Mexico believes. It is funny however to see gringos accept narco mantras like they would peer reviewed journalism in major UA media outlets.
Many of you need to get off your couch just staring at your phones, and come learn what Mexican nationals perspective is on the credibility of narco mantas.
