The Men's Center for Social Reintegration (Cevareso) of Santa Martha Acatitla registered a fight between 8 inmates, where at least 5 prisoners assaulted 3 others who lost their lives from the assaults, according to information from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City.
At the moment, according to TV media reports, there is a strong operation in the Diamond Module of the men's zone of the Santa Martha Acatitla prison. There is talk of at least 300 elements of the capital police awaiting instructions to strengthen security inside the penitentiary.
Through a press release, the SSC informed of the dismissal of the Director of the Men's Center and the Deputy Director of Security. They have been placed at the disposal of the ministerial authorities. "Security measures were also reinforced and the state of force was expanded in the penitentiary center," they said.
In an interview with Foro TV, Omar Garcia Harfuch, Secretary of Security of the capital city, explained that there had already previously been arguments, strong verbal confrontations, between the 8 people involved in the fight.
The SSC explained that the Attorney General's Office (FGJ) of Mexico City is already aware of the facts, in order to carry out the relevant investigations and the corresponding expert services.
According to the authorities, the aggressors have already been identified: one of the men is serving a sentence for aggravated homicide and carrying a firearm without a license; another has a sentence for aggravated robbery and rape; a third involved has a record for homicide and rape.
The fourth assailant has a record for kidnapping and the last of the three assailants has a record for robbery and carrying a firearm without a license.
Of the people who lost their lives, it is known that they had priors for homicide, robbery and carrying a firearm without a license.
