After the letter written by the sons of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman addressing the DEA on its recent indictments; authorities of the Government of Sinaloa preferred not to offer statements and acknowledged that there are no active searches against them.
In a brief meeting with the press, Governor Rubén Rocha Moya was questioned about the content of the letter. However, he distanced himself from any position and assured that it is the responsibility of the Federal Government to issue statements in this regard, as well as to “judge” the letter, which he considered an act of freedom of expression.

“It is a letter from them and the authority will have to examine it and make some sense of it, it is a federal matter, the authority has to see it, say, you know what, this letter has, it is simply a public expression, this letter goes to the file, they will solve it," stated Rocha Moya.

Contrary to the assertions of Governor Rocha Moya, the Sinaloa Secretary of Public Security, Cristóbal Castañeda Camarillo, declared that the state is not looking for Los Chapitos.
In an interview with Azucena Uresti for Milenio Televisión, the official said that they are not looking for them, but that they are joining efforts with the federation.
“We are not looking for them. We join efforts with the federation, there is a sum of efforts with the federation”, mentioned the secretary, without offering more details.
During the morning conference on May 4, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said that, although he found out about the existence of the letter, he had not read it. “We found out about that letter this morning at the security meeting, I don’t know the content. They treated him in the security cabinet, we don’t have an opinion on that,” maintained the president.

Delete651, I don't agree with drone strikes. Drone strikes result in "unintended casualties" and the forced displacement of the local population. 904 is obviously very upset. The Bible along with some anger management classes is definitely a good start at addressing some of his unresolved issues. We all want justice, but attempting to undermine another countries sovereignty will not resolve the problem but rather cause more harm than good. The drug dealing, trafficking, production, and money laundering schemes go back decades, and im not talking 20, 30 years, probably close to 60-70. They fine tuned it in the beginning and that's why Sinaloa has a successful economy. If the state politicians go 100% on the traffickers, the economy would collapse. It would hurt everyone, including the politicos. Why do you think the Feds don't include the state and local authorities in their operations to capture the big wig narcos. The Feds are aware of the ties between the state and the narcos, but again, due to the economic complexities, that issue must be handled with extreme care and caution as to not destabilize the "legitimate" economy.
