"Char" for Borderland Beat
Of the 140 sites where graves have been found in Jalisco, 63 correspond to the municipality of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga.
The majority of clandestine graves found in the current administration have been in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, with 63 of the 140 sites, representing 45% of the total; in all the burial sites a total of 1,647 people have been located, according to information from the Special Prosecutor's Office on Missing Persons of Jalisco, which takes as a reference a period from December 2018 to June 2023.
Indira Navarro, leader of the collective of Searching Mothers of Jalisco, agreed that most of the graves have been found there. "We have found around 80% of them in that municipality, it is a cemetery. Most of them are there, that's why they don't want us to keep looking. Most of the findings are made by the collectives, that is a certainty, I do not have the data prices but it is a reality that we have more results than the Government itself".
For example, he pointed out that before the explosive attack last Tuesday in Tlajomulco, which so far left six dead and 14 wounded, they were working in a clandestine grave located in San Lucas Evangelista.
"But they stopped the processing, there were 51 bodies although they did not want to give us the real number. They put devices so that we could not see, they limited our visibility although they had to allow us access, and they did not comply, they took us away from there".
Before the demonstration that different search collectives will carry out this Sunday, to demand the authorities not to suspend the search work, he invited the society to be empathetic with the cause and to unite to raise their voices.
"We are tired of so much disappearance, that they don't let us work and that coordination is not reinforced. We ask that they give us equipment and what we need to do the work that corresponds to them. If they do not support us they should at least let us work".
