Narco-blockades reported in San Juan de los Lagos

This afternoon two narco-blockades between armed groups were reported in San Juan de los Lagos, so far no casualties have been reported.

The first event occurred on the San Juan de los Lagos-Encarnacion highway and according to several videos circulating on social networks, containers can be seen obstructing the passage of cars.

The events reportedly occurred today, July 11, during the middle of the day.

In the videos you can see two Cemento Cruz Azul tractor trailers that were positioned across the highway and set on fire near San Sebastián del Oeste.

It is presumed that the drug blockade was the result of a confrontation between criminal groups.

The second blockade took place near the El Alamo beach resort, on the Lagos de Moreno to Encarnacion de Diaz highway, where a pickup truck was set on fire.

What are narco-blockades?

Narco-blockades have been used by members of criminal organizations to demand the release of their leaders and to dispute various zones against other criminal groups.

What happens in a narco-blockade?

Narco-blockades are a way implemented by criminal groups to enjoy full freedom in exchange for not interfering or threatening civilians with high acts of violence.
