Mario Alberto Lugo Lara kept a low profile with the authorities and only appears in some army files.

MARIO PUMPKINS

The name of Mario Alberto Lugo Lara, known as Mario Calabazas, does not appear in the DEA or FBI files, nor among the federal government's priority targets, but he did appear on flyers distributed in Mocorito and Guamúchil last Thursday, in which he is accused of "treason".

"Mario Calabazas your whole family is suffering because of you! You already did so much damage to the population! We are not going to stop! We are coming for you! Traitor rat," reads one of the flyers thrown on the streets of Mocorito and Guamúchil, after confrontations, burning of vehicles and homes, including at least two owned by Lugo Lara, were reported in the San José de las Delicias syndicate, municipality of Sinaloa, which forced the displacement of at least 300 people.

These flyers were allegedly distributed by the Beltrán Leyva clan, led by Fausto Isidro Meza Flores, El Chapo Isidro, and to which Mario Calabazas belonged, at least until 2022, according to internal Sedena documents.

In addition to shooting and burning the homes of Lugo Lara and other residents of San José de las Delicias on July 28 and 30, it is known that Chapo Isidro also kidnapped relatives of Mario Calabazas, but this information has not been confirmed by any authority.

Thus, from being collaborators, Chapo Isidro and Mario Calabazas became enemies, and the former is currently hunting the latter, who has reportedly fled to the mountains to save his life.

The Calabazas

A Sedena document, dated August 2016, titled "Executive Agenda III RM", hacked by the Guacamaya collective, indicates that Lugo Lara, also nicknamed L, is part of the Beltrán Leyva's organizational chart, and had under his command the control in the municipality of Sinaloa. Another 2020 document, in which he is already nicknamed Mario Calabazas, places him as an operator in the municipalities of El Fuerte and Guasave, but several sources consulted indicate that Los Calabazas operate in Guasave and Sinaloa municipality.

Los Calabazas are an armed wing of the Beltrán Leyva cartel, which until 2009 was part of the Guzmán Loera-Zambada García organization. The break between the two criminal organizations occurred after the arrest of Alfredo Beltrán Leyva, El Mochomo, in Culiacán, in an operation that was considered a betrayal by Joaquín el Chapo Guzmán. The following year Arturo Beltrán Leyva, El Barbas, was murdered in Cuernavaca, Morelos, weakening the cartel founded by him and his brother.

After the fall of both leaders, Chapo Isidro took over the leadership of the Beltrán Leyva, and subsequently founded the Guasave Cartel, and one of its armed arms was Los Calabazas, which was commanded by Carlos Jesús and/or Jesús Carlos Carlos Salmón Higuera, el Macaco, who was found murdered on September 2, 2018 in the Estación Naranjo syndicate, after having escaped from the Aguaruto prison on July 22 of that same year.

El Macaco was arrested for the ambush he organized and executed along with Juan Pablo Osuna, El Cien, on July 9, 2012 in the town of Tetamboca, El Fuerte, in retaliation for the fight against the "Mazatlecos," a group of drug dealers and enforcers of the Sinaloa Cartel. Six policemen were killed and a commander and four other elements were wounded.

After the death of Macaco, Mario Calabazas took over the leadership of the armed wing of Los Calabazas in the mountainous area of the municipality of Sinaloa, from the town of the same name to Estación Naranjo, in Guasave.

Los Calabazas' mission was to confront rival groups of the Guasave Cartel and they also participated in several ambushes, such as the one that took place on March 13, 2011, in a funeral home in Guamúchil, where five people who were attending a wake were killed. Some of them were relatives of Macaco.

EL CHAPO ISIDRO. He is wanted in the US.

Unlike the anonymity that Mario Calabazas has maintained before the authorities, even though he is widely known in the area of the municipality of Sinaloa and Guasave, his now former boss, El Chapo Isidro, is wanted by US authorities, who are offering a reward of 5 million dollars for information leading to his whereabouts.

The FBI charges him with criminal association to distribute 5 kilograms or more of cocaine, 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, one kilogram or more of heroin and 1,000 kilograms or more of marijuana for importation into the United States; criminal association to produce and distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, distribute one kilogram or more of heroin and distribute 1,000 kilograms or more of marijuana for importation into the United States; use and possession of a firearm.

On May 2, 2012, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia formally indicted Meza Flores after he was charged with criminal association to distribute 5 kilograms or more of cocaine, 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, 1 kilogram or more of heroin, and 1,000 kilograms or more of marijuana for importation into the U.S., and use of a firearm.

On May 7, 2019, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia filed a second federal indictment against Meza Flores after he was charged with criminal association to produce and distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, distribute one kilogram or more of heroin, and distribute 1,000 kilograms or more of marijuana for importation into the U.S., and for using and possessing a firearm.

    4. @11:23 nothing there that says how he betrayed isidro. All it says that he is a traitor and a rat. Doesn't say what the betrayal was

    5. @El Benny

That's not what you originally said. Your first comment says "not one word" but now you switch to "how he betrayed".

Third paragraph says "traitor rat". He betrayed by being a traitor and a rat.

    6. 11:49 Let's just say you're right, which I don't believe you are, but lets just say you are. It still doesn't state what was behind the conflict. They just say he's a traidor and rat. And when they use rata as an insult, it could mean a couple of different things.. Not just that that person told. And he could have gotten someone the other top bosses didn't like to work for him and for that be cosidered a traitor. So it still doesn't tell us what actually started this issue.

Benny originally said "not one word" on how he betrayed and that's what I replied to. When I proved him wrong he changed his stance and started asking for more details.

  13. Go back to 2009 -10 when los calabazas took out and ran off other families such as the Perez-Felix in Bacubirito... Now it's his time to run... duck and hide or get killed... Whole families are getting wiped out all over again... you just don't hear it in the press... La Ley Del Monte...

  14. Isidro, Azul, Lazcano, Mayo, actually had brains not to get caught and kept a low profile, not to many photos.

    1. @6.30 am . Not too many photos of Mayo? There are more photos of Mayo than any other boss I can think of before their capture. If you look quickly you'll find 4 or 5. If you persevere you'll find 9 or 10 (not counting that one of some random dude with a sombrero on a horse). Lazcano didn't have the brains not to get caught, and there are half a dozen photos of him. Then he was shot dead. If by ''keeping a low profile'' you mean bribing local editors and federal officials and torturing and murdering local journalists to prevent the leaking of their faces then they must have been pretty shit at their job compared to the journalists.

  16. Chapo Isidro didn't take over the leadership of BLO after the fall of Arturo and Alfredo. He stepped back from the power struggle between Barbie and Hector and El Grande. He was responsible for preventing incursions into territory Hector was trying to cling to.
